sforceatthedome_web.jpgHDNet and Strikeforce announced a partnership agreement last night that will enable HDNet to televise a minimum of four Strikeforce events over the course of 2008.

The first Strikeforce show to appear on HDNet will be the upcoming “Strikeforce at The Dome” event scheduled for February 23 in Tacoma, WA. The event will be headlined by former PrideFC fighter Bob Sapp and K-1 fighter Jan Nortje. Also on the card, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Maurice Smith will face kickboxing legend Rick Rufus in Rufus’ professional MMA debut.

Adding Strikeforce brings Mark Cuban’s HDNet that much closer to reaching their goal of televising at least 24 MMA events during the course of 2008. Strikeforce joins the Maximum Fighting Championship, International Fight League, M-1 Global, Sportfight, and HDNet’s own HDNet Fights.

Seems like Cuban is serious about his HDnet fights adventure. I’ve looked through my cable subscription and can’t find HDnet so I’m not sure if Comcast is carring it. I would love to be able to get all these free events. I’m going to have to check with Comcast this week when I go and pay my bill to see if it’s available.

I know Cox Cable here in Rhode Island doesnt have it. But I’m switching to Verizon FIOS in two weeks and they have it, so I’ll finally get to watch all these HDNet shows.
