** UPDATE **

Sam Caplan is reporting that Moyses Gabin’s salary of $1 is correct, but his actual salary was handled by a local outside promoter.

ProElite.com contacted EliteXC officials for a comment and all indications are that Gabin’s compensation was handled by an outside promoter.

“That fight was put together by a local promoter,” EliteXC Head of Fighter Operations Jeremy Lappen stated in an e-mail. “Gabin is paid a salary by the promoter who sponsored that bout.”

  1. MAD says:

Kimbo got quite a payday for his second fight. I guess name recognition goes a long way. Most UFC fighters don’t make that. Even Tank cashed in. He has only won 1 of his last 10 fights I think. Maybe Elite will be able to steal some talent if they are willing to pay like this.

    • MMAKansas says:

All I can say about that is….BROCK LESNAR… guy gets paid more than either one of the former HWC in the UFC on his debut.. name recognition baby.. marketability is all the UFC cares about, the rankings aren’t even fair… no system except the “dollar bill” system “butts in chairs” system…

  2. MAD says:

How does this Moyses Gabin only get paid $1. Was this an exhibition match?

    • Dr J says:

Thats a good question, and I was wondering the same thing myself. Not quite sure what the story is.

Gabin won the fight about halfway through the first round due to a doctor stoppage. I guess he cut his opponent with near the eye pretty badly.

  3. Ozzy says:

I’d buy that for a dollar!

  4. MMAKansas says:

Hey… I miss Richard, he was always on the “next big thing” until it fizzled .. lol.. right now he would be talking about Boetsch… probably coming up with some line about the guy like “Boestism” or something like that.. hehe

  5. R.J. St.Croix says:

if Elite offered me a buck to fight for them i would take it lol. sh*t i would fight Kimbo for $1 just to say i stepped in with a pro fighter.
