If you can understand Croatian then you can probably read this report for yourself, but if you’re like me you can thank Todd Yeakle at RedSweat.com for the translation.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic‘s next opponent is expected to be Sergei Kharitonov at DREAM 4 this coming June.

According to the Sport Index at Index.hr, Mirko Filipovic will be fighting Sergei Kharitonov at the upcoming DREAM.4 event in mid June.

Olympia DREAM.4 will be the second round of the Middleweight Grand Prix which is stacking up to be quite a tournament. Some of the GP participants already slated for the tournament include Akiyama, Funaki, Sakuraba, Dong Sik Yoon, Taiei Kin, Oyama and Minowa.

According to the article, Crocop was suppose to fight Kharitonov at the recent DREAM.1 event but Mirko turned down the bout stating that Sergei would be too tough a match for him after a six month break.

Sergei Kharitonov is a PrideFC veteran like Mirko and last fought Alistair Overeem in September ’07 in K-1 Hero’s.

Interesting that Mirko didn’t want to face Sergei after coming off his UFC disappointments. Mirko was smart enough to know that he wasn’t at the level he was in Pride and needs some work. I don’t know how much improvement he gained by defeating Tatsuya Mizuno at DREAM 1, but at least he got his feet wet again in the ring.

Mirko – Sergei should be an explosive standup fight.

Cro cop has lost his confident. I could see it even in the fight with Mizuno. He has changed his style too (more defensive)… Hope a couple of fights will bring him back to be the same person.
I believe he is still one of the best fighters in MMA

i think winning over can might hurt his confidence more then help, stepping down in comp just to get some wins might make him feel like this is his level and hes not good enough to be with the top guys. the truth is Cro Cop IS top tier and needs to fight top tier guys and if he loses he needs to except that it happens and move on and fight again. just my thought.
