Jake Shields vs Drew Fickett Called Off

The EliteXC welterweight title fight between Jake Shields and Drew Fickett scheduled for this Saturday night has been called off.

The fight was going to be the co-main event on the combined EliteXC-Strikeforce Shamrock vs Cung Le event in San Jose, CA.

Shields reportedly pulled a muscle in his back while training last week and has not been able to recover enough to fight this weekend.

The fight has not been completely cancelled, only postponed until a later date; most likely within the next few months.

I know. This would have been a decent fight.

Fickett’s not the best, but he’s a tough fighter and Shields has been waiting long enough for his title shot ever since Mike Pyle chickend out.
