Matt Hughes weighed in with his thoughts on the upcoming UFC 83 main event recently on his personal website.

Since we’re on the subject of GSP/Serra, honestly, I think GSP will win this fight very decisively. I don’t think that a submission will play a role in the fight. Obviously, Matt has power in his hands, so I don’t think Georges will make the same mistake this time of standing right in front of him. So, once again, I think Georges will be victorious. I’ve already asked the UFC that if Serra loses, I get him.

We are all aware that there is no love lost between Matt Hughes and Matt Serra. Both guys have a strong arrogant ego and both fighters feel the other one is a “jerk.” Serra and Hughes were supposed to fight at UFC 79 last December, but Serra was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a back injury. Georges St. Pierre stepped up in his place and handily defeated Matt Hughes, earning him an interim UFC Welterweight title belt.

I know that I personally would like to see a Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra fight simply because I think it would be a great “grudge match.”

I also think it would be an interesting match that needs to happen. They spent months hyping the fight already so people are interested. I think Serra’s 15 minutes of fame are about up. Once GSP beats him I think Hughes will do the same. What will be interesting is what Matt chooses to do after that. Like Franklin I don’t think he wants any more of GSP like Rich probably is not interested in fighting Silva.
