- Georges St. Pierre came out and performed like everyone expected him to the first time he fought Matt Serra. GSP is simply the best of the best right now at welterweight and Matt Serra isn’t even close to that level. For anyone to continue to hold to the notion that Serra didn’t catch GSP on an off night in their first meeting is ludicrous. GSP showed once again that his takedowns and control on the ground are excellent, regardless of the jiu-jitsu skills of the fighter on the bottom. St. Pierre now looks forward to what should be an excellent battle against Jon Fitch.
- Looks like we will probably see that Matt Serra vs Matt Hughes after all. The matchup could very likely be the last appearance for the loser, and possibly for both fighters as they are heading to the latter part of their careers.
- Travis Lutter came very close to securing the submission victory over Rich Franklin that I thought he would. Lutter slapped on an armbar that would have forced 90% of other fighters to tap out, but Franklin showed some excellent defensive skills in rolling out of the submission without any damage. Lutter forgot, again, one of the most important aspects of being a high level MMA fighter – conditioning. Being in shape is pretty much the only thing a fighter has complete control over going into a fight, and there is no excuse for gassing the way Lutter did. Credit to Franklin for being patient and working his gameplan to the victory.
- Hopefully, last night was the final time we will see Charles McCarthy in the UFC, or at least on the televised portion of a Pay-Per-View card. Michael Bisping looked excellent in his debut at middleweight. The drop in weight seemed to agree with Bisping who looked sharp with his strikes and lighter on his feet.
- As with McCarthy, hopefully the UFC can finally cut ties with Kalib Starnes. There is simply no excuse for the performance Starnes gave last night against Nate Quarry. Starnes’ career seems to be bipolar as he has a solid performance followed by a completely laughable performance. Starnes didn’t look like he wanted to fight and engage Quarry at all and was simply content to get beaten up and back-pedal all night. Quarry’s “retard punches” at the end were also uncalled for, although they did make me chuckle.
- The Mac Danzig vs Mike Bocek fight was exciting from start to finish. Give credit to Bocek for not backing down and giving Danzig a solid fight. Give credit to Danzig for staying calm and keeping his composure while sticking to this gameplan.
- The crowd in Montreal was excellent last night and you could tell the intensity of the atmosphere event through the PPV broadcast. The UFC would be smart to hold migrate some of their events from England to Canada.
- Steve Cofield as the full audio from the UFC 83 post-fight press conference if you are interested.
- The UFC upped the event bonuses to $75,000 for UFC 83. Fight of the night went to Jonathan Goulet and Kuniyoshi Hironaka. Knockout of the night went to Jason MacDonald, while Submission of the night went to Demian Maia

summary….gsp kicked ***…serra sucks fat **** and always will…franklin kicks ***….so proud of nate……..mac kick *** job…..
Nate Quarry vs. Michael Bisping anyone?
Nate Quarry vs. Patrick Cote anyone?
Nate Quarry vs.Dan Henderson anyone?
Anyone, anyone? Joe Silva? anyone? going once, going twice…
Doc, if you notice, when Nate was doing the “retard punchs” Starnes STILL backed away lol. I was waiting for NAte to turn his back to Kalib and start walking backwards toward him very slowly, im sure Kalib would have still backed away lol.
Just Pathetic man.. im sure that I could have done better! i would have stepped to Nate and got KO, but thats better than being a complete ***** and wasting all of our time for 15 min..
i actually that nate was trying to do anything to make him want to fight.but i lost a grand on the lutter fight fu*ck
wtf? i put up 2 posts and they didnt show up..
you guys wanna see something funny?
Jason Gatties
“Much like last time, I’m predicting:
Serra
This time, he will submit Frenchie. I said he would submit Frenchie last time, I was wrong.”
LOL looks like Gatties wont show his face for a while, maybe till next event with another ridiculous pick.
gatties is a **** bag….lol serra submit frenchie lol
sup boys? so i see everyone enjoyed the fights. the Bell center was insane like i expected, it was a good time. i have a ton of pics from the fights that i plan on uploading soon, i ran into a few fighters but it seemed like every time i got to talk to a fighter my camera was back at my seat with the wife except for two times and one of them (Heath Herring) completely blew me off and wouldnt let me take a pic, oh well. UFC 83 was one of the best times ive ever had and the next time UFC comes to Canada i WILL be there. i dont know if they showed Goulet vs. Hironaka but if not find it it was a good fight.
did they say anything about MacDonald throwing the late elbow?
Welcome back RJ, you got a great event to see man, no controvery and BS, hometown boy brought it home.
How bout Bocek? i used to live in woodbridge and Kempo was my style too heh.. great job against Danzig tho.
We all saw it on the PPV, but what was it REALLY like with the whole Kalib “24″ Starnes thing? lol thats his new name.
Gotta love the amount of respect by the MTO crowd, they didnt just favor the canadian boys, they booed and cheered at all the right times heh.
yeah man Bocek is a warrior i though for sure he was gonna pull it out. all in all the Canadian boys did pretty good, i was a bit bummed out about the Stout fight but you cant win em all. i ran into Clementi about a half an hour after there fight and i wanted to attack on Sams behalf lol but i just said whats up, shook his hand and walked away lol.
GSP looked awesome. I’ll admit that. Noticed you didn’t break down my other picks, which can be heard on my blog talk radio show (click on my name for the link).
What was that? I got all my other picks right including predicting that Rich would win in the second round via TKO?
F*ck you all.
GATTIES, I predicted Franklin in the 2nd round by TKO also, the difference is, you think your badass or something for predicting it.
I happened to check you out on the playground, i see you stopped making your picks there. Why is that? could it be that your last score for an event was 28 points?? LOL.
Time for a reality check, your not any better at picking fights than anyone else here, so get over yourself already!
hmmm.. yup.. nuff said.. lol
yeah i guess Rich over Travis in 2 by TKO was a tough pick, except me and 7 others guys from the team picked it too. oh whats that I picked St.Pierre over Serra in 2 by TKO, how awesome am i? for real Gatties we are not impressed by your greatness and i dont know why you find the need to come here and talk sh*t for no reason. you come on here with your bullsh*t, ignorant statements (Serra will tap out “frenchie”) and you were f*ckin wrong, now you came back humble? nope, you come back saying “What was that? I got all my other picks right including predicting that Rich would win in the second round via TKO?
F*ck you all.” i think you might just be too cool for us here Gatties maybe you should find a cooler bunch to chit-chat with.
hey ******
