The next EliteXC: Saturday Night Fights event on CBS has been officially announced and is currently scheduled to take place on July 26.

The fight card, officially called “Unfinished Business”, will be headlined by a rematch fight between current EliteXC middleweight champion Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith. Lawler and Smith first fought each other May 31 on the first CBS-EliteXC fight card. The fight ended in a no-contest after the doctor stopped the fight early due to an accidental eye poke.

Earlier today, MMAJunkie.com reported that Jake Shields will fight for the EliteXC welterweight title on the July 26 fight card. Possible opponents include Nick Thompson and Jay Heiron.

Shields had two prior title fights against Drew Fickett postponed for injuries. One of those delayed fights was scheduled to take place at this past Saturday’s event in Hawaii, but Fickett pulled out due to an injury. Fickett obviously wasn’t that injured, however, as he competed and won a fight at Rage in the Cage 111 two weeks ago. EliteXC is now seeking to drop Fickett’s contract due to his actions and he is no longer an option to contend for the welterweight title.

doc, by the way, you might want to update some of the links on the sidebar..

Irish whip fighting has stopped posting for a while now, look like the poster is concentrating on mmamadness now, you should link to that if you want, or just delete irish whip.

Sprawl and Brawl has a similar situation, posting stopped and the guy went over to fiveouncesofpain.

just a heads up incase you hadnt noticed..
