  • Well, there really isn’t much that needs to be said about the Anderson Silva vs James Irvin fight. The matchup played out as was expected. Irvin got KO’d quick, received a nasty cut for his work, and nothing much was proved by seeing Silva at light heavyweight.
  • Brandon Vera is very quickly dropping in to that supremely dangerous zone in the UFC – boring fighter. I’m sure the first cut to 205 lbs. was tough on Vera and dropped a good amount of Vera’s energy, but his performance against Reese Andy was very lackluster. We’ve seen how the UFC deals with “boring fighters” and Vera better start ramping up his energy to his pre-contract dispute days quickly.
  • Frankie Edgar absolutely rolled through Hermes Franca in a very impressive dominating performance. Nice high-energy showing from Edgar and a pretty anemic showing from Franca.
  • Once again, Cain Velasquez gave us just a quick taste of his potential with his quick dismantling of Jake O’Brien. With all the hype surrounding Velasquez, it will be nice to see him in a fight that gets out of the first round so we can see what his stamina is like.
  • Someone should let Kevin Burns know that if you can’t throw a punch with a closed fist, it doesn’t mean you are allowed to throw a “punch” with all five fingers out. Anthony Johnson was robbed in what should have either been a DQ victory or a no-contest decision.
  • Man, am I already sick of hearing about the Peruvian necktie.
  • Rory Markham look decent in his UFC debut against Brodie Farber. I’m glad Markham is finally getting his UFC shot after a good career in the now defunct IFL.
  • Fight of the Night bonuses went to Frank Edgar and Hermes Franca; Knockout of the Night went to Rory Markham; and Sumbission of the Night went to C.B. Dollaway. All fighters were awarded a $25,000 bonus

silva is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i have no idea why i picked franca?????????????????and why are u tired of the puruvian neck tie that move was the ****

Ya i picked Franca too.. i dunno, i thought that after the loss and the suspension and the long layoff that Franca would be back with a vengence and hungry for a win. We ended up seeing almost an exact replay of Francas last fight vs Sherk. He spent the whole fight on his back… must have been really frustrating for Hermes man..

Gotta hand it to Edgar tho, it was nothing short of a wrestling clinic last night, he completely dominated Franca taking him down at will. He never used the same takedown twice, single leg, double, trips, throws, he threw everythig but the kitchen sink at him.

Though i stood up in anticipation in the last 30 sec when Hermes landed that flush knee.. oh man, if that happened in the first round it would have been over FOR SURE. Hermes was just dead by the 3rd, he really needs to work on his wrestling game, or hes finished man.

i think if he would have landed the knee with like a minute left he could of pulled something off.

By the way i also loved the peruvian necktie.. its a great technique, its nice to see unconventional submissions. The fact that he pulled it off on that douchebag Jesse was the best part.. im so glad that guy lost, i hope they dont try and feed him easy fights to keep him around. 1 or 2 more losses and we dont have to see that goofs face anymore..

        • R.J. St.Croix says:

i can see “JT Money” staying around because the UFC probably pays him in UFC tee-shirts and bananas and people already know his name. im really hoping these newer promotions combat that sort of thing by putting together these shows like Affliction did.
