Of the eleven UFC fighters tested by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after UFC Fight Night 14, all came back negative except for main event fighter James Irvin.

Irvin tested positive for both methadone and oxymorphone.

Oxymorhpone is basically a combination of morhpine and oxycodone and generally used as a basic, prescription painkiller. Methadone is also used as an analgesic (painkiller).

Irvin has up to 20 days to request a formal hearing with the NSAC before he is given a punishment. Most likely, Irvin is looking at anywhere from a 6 to 12 month suspension and anywhere from a quarter to a full forfeiture of his fight purse.

He certainly fought like he was drugged up.

Doc, i read that the csac issued 180 day medical suspensions for Fedor, Sylvia and Vitor, you know if theres any truth to these rumors?

People are saying its because UFC has influence with the csac or some kind of inside man. I know it sounds like some crazy conspiracy (which it probably is) but they definately have a motive for a move like that, we already saw them try and torpedo the first Affliction card. Now that Affliction planned to put on another big show in Vegas, the timing seems very suspicious to me..

Yeah, I received a copy of the CSAC suspension list last night and they were suspended, but it’s really nothing unusual. Fedor was suspended for a hand injury and Tim for a shoulder injury. Both fighters can fight again earlier if they are cleared by a doctor first.

This type of suspension isn’t that unusual and it won’t really be a bit deal for both guys to get cleared by a doctor to fight on the next Affliction card.

      • bvrasp says:

Doc, ya they always suspend the fighters for a short while after fights, but what about Fedor? from what Fedor said, he only sprained his thumb, do you think that warrants 180 day suspension? I know theyre gonna get that reduced but still, where do they get 180 days from?? just cuz it was the main event?

  3. Maxx says:

If the dude was fighting while on methadone he should commended for being able to walk to the cage, not to mention throwing a punch.

    • Dr J says:

Well, Methadone is also used as a painkiller. Most people think of methadone when they think of drug addicts but its not always use as an illicit drug alternative, its also used as a painkiller.
