In another one of those laughable, head-scratching moves, Loretta Hunt is reporting that Kimbo Slice will face off against Ken Shamrock on the upcoming CBS Saturday Night Fights event. The EliteXC event is currently scheduled for October 4 in Florida.

Rather than giving Slice a decent opponent for his fourth fight, EliteXC has once again chosen to give him an opponent that he can use as a punching bag. Shamrock, the “World’s Least Most Dangerous Man”, has not won a fight since he defeated Kimo at UFC 48 way back in 2004. Since 2000, Shamrock has a superb record of 3-8.

Why EliteXC is choosing not to match Slice up against a legitimate fighter at this point is unknown. Brett Rogers has, on several occasions expressed his willingness to take on Slice.

I’m only slightly convinced that matching Slice up with Shamrock is better than matching him up against Sean Gannon who was rumored to be under consideration.

I can only imagine what the cage-side commentary by Ken’s brother Frank will be during this “main event” matchup.

My honest assessment is that I will be surprised if EliteXC is still in operation 18 months from now.

LOL i was just telling the boys at work about this rumor, we all had a good laugh lol. im starting to think Ken is trying to make his mark in history by being the first fighter to actually die in the cage.

Im wondering who Kimbos next opponent will really be.. theres been so many rumors, from Tyson to Sean Gannon, which have all been ruled out.

So Kimbos fighting in october but they dont have an opponent for him yet? lol does this seem odd to anyone else? I guess for Kimbo it doesnt matter, hes got so much to learn that who hes fighting doesnt really make a difference.

For the fighter to be named later, this guy will definately be out of shape, probably not even training before the fight is announced. Last minute theyre gonna throw some dude in there with Kimbo, maybe giving him like 3-4 weeks to get ready (which is nothing).

    Kimbos possible future opponents..

    Sean Gannon
    Shamrock
    Cabbage
    Butterbean
    Zulu
    etc…

    what a circus…
