Today's Mixed Martial Arts News and Analysis Headquarters

Yesterday we talked about the rumor that has been circulating regarding Randy Couture’s possible return to the UFC.Well, more news is circulating today and it appears there is perhaps more fact than fiction to this rumor.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that Couture may not be returning for just one more fight but that the former champion and UFC Hall-of-Famer is actually negotiating a completely new contract with the promotion. Meltzer says a brand new three-fight deal is in the works that would see Couture return this November to face Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 in Portland, OR. The new contract would surely pay Couture a much higher rate than his previous contract and the assumption is that with a new contract all contract disputes between Couture and Zuffa, LLC would be dropped.

So, it appears that “Captain America” may be returning to action pretty soon. I’d love to see him back, but a fight with Lesnar is a bit odd, although it will be sure to draw HUGE gate and Pay-Per-View.

Wow. This is very interesting. After the thing that aired on MSNBC or one of those shows I would have bet my left nut that Couture would never return to the UFC but now its seems extremely likely, oh how money changes everthing.

In regards to the Couture/Lesnar other than the obvious fact that it will be a hugely popular card there are so many ways that this fight would complicate things I really dont see how Dana could let this happen. As was dicussed on the other board what are they gonna do with Nog being the interim Champ and Couture being the current if Lesnar wins, will he be the current champ and Nog still the interim and then those two fight it out? I dont think even that would work because lesnar still hasnt proven himself against some of the other contenders in the HW division. One other thing regarding the actual fight is what will happen to Lesnar if he loses this fight.

I cant believe this is happening its just so ridiculous! If the UFC was wiling to throw Randys contract away and draw up a new one, why didnt they do it a long time ago?

I thought Randy wanted Fedor, now hes coming back for Lesnar and more money? this is a very strange situation, its so strange my mind is still refusing to believe that this is really happening.

Alot of sites are saying UFC is trying to make Randy vs Fedor happen in 2009. If thats the case, why didnt they make it happen before? Could it be because of Fedors incredible win over Sylvia? do they finally believe that Fedor is worth the money hes asking for?

This whole story has raised more questions than its answered for me. Im so confused, im gonna take a nap lol.

yeah these new talks between UFC and Randy are a bit odd. ive heard about 30000 different rumors about the whole thing, and im not to sure if im believing in any of them. one thing i heard is that someone is going to be announcing to do with the whole thing so i guess we will have to wait and see if it happens.
