I think the UFC should do an arena PRIDE SHOW just for the heck of it next year. They own Pride, its theirs, why not get the old pride ring, rent an arena, do the light show, and get some banshee crazy lady for an announcer with a huge scissor lift to move the fighters from the top ramp to the ring for show, and a trophy?

It would break things up pretty nicely and really appeal to all fan bases, you could have one time fight deals with some of the old Pride fighters and the light shows with the big screens and all would be cool. I dunno, just a random thought. If they paid for that brand, they should at least use it once in a while, dust it off, I mean the WHOLE international community recognizes it versus the UFC and they could promote their entitity (UFC) during the show to grab international viewers’ attention.

sounds like an awesome idea, but you forget the whole reason Zuffa bought Pride… to shut it down

      • MMAKansas says:

Looked to me like that was a non issue… they didn’t have the funds to keep operating so it would seem to me that it was a shut down the comp move on one end, but mostly to acquire fighters and make big fights happen on the other end.

I miss pride too man, its been like a year but it feels soooo much longer than that. Ofcourse UFC will never bring pride back, have you guys checked out the Pride website lately? its pretty much just a billboard for UFC events.

        • R.J. St.Croix says:

yeah man i just watched PRIDE 33 the other day and i was thinking about how its seems like its been forever since PRIDE stopped. and when it was over i went straight to the computer to check if the old site was still up and it has been hijacked for sure, did ya notice the banner at the top only has fighters employed by the UFC, Nog, Coleman, and Henderson, all the adds and news are for UFC and WEC. its almost disrespectful to every one who loved PRIDE, if there not going to continue PRIDE just shut the site down.

Hot story today, Tanner is missing and they found a body yet to be indentified. This after his decision to head off into the desert, i guess when you live like a man you die like a man.

Hopefully Tanner got drunk somewhere lost his phone and hes getting laid right now. I was never a big fan, but still, it would be a tragedy if Evan went out like that, or anyone for that matter.

Dam.. its been confirmed, Evan Tanner is dead.. This is a sad day for MMA fans.. He was one tough dude and a UFC champion, we saulte you Evan.

When i read this quote it really spoke to me man..

“It is a shame that in this society we’ve been taught to judge a man’s worth by what he owns instead of who he is. Everything is surface, and so few look beyond it. A man will sell his soul, he will lie, cheat and steal, for money. If he has it, he can buy respect. Wear the right clothes, drive the right car, have the right friends, that’s all that matters. Our lives are consumed in a selfish, self absorbed quest for possessions, the latest and the best in a never-ending cycle until the day we die. We forget what it means to be truly human. We forget the things that really matter. We lose the magic of what life should be.

I won’t live by rules that make no sense to me.”
