Ken Shamrock has been forced off the EliteXC: Heat fight card due to an injury.

Shamrock was scheduled to fight Kimbo Slice in the night’s main event, but suffered an eye injury that required multiple stitches during a training session late Friday night. The Florida State Athletic Commission would not let Shamrock fight with the injury and scratched him from the fight.

Seth Petruzelli will fight in Shamrocks place and take on Slice. Petruzelli was originally scheduled to fight on the events undercard against Aaron Rosa, but will not jump to the night’s main event.

LOL first time i saw someone get KO by a jab

im starting to think i have some bad luck with recording fights. like some of you know i record every fight i can and things like tonight are part of the reason why i do it, the reason i bring this up is because when i was going to watch the Liddell vs. Evans event for some reason my cable provider couldnt put it on for me so i watched it on the net (therefor unable to record it) and tonight i had a weird series of events, at the last minute my brother-in-law called and asked me to come over and watch the fights at his place so i set up my DVD recorder to record it, well my son (Joseph) left his bedroom door open and our cat (Jack LeChat) broke our hamster (Catwoman) out of his (yeah i said his) cage, and during the chase between Jack LeChat and Catwoman at some point one of them ran across the power bar and shut off all the power to everything on my entertainment stand. so thats a big upset (IMO) i dont get to see again and again, AND Kimbo revealing that under that huge beard is pure glass i dont get to see again and again, F*CK! lol.

  3. R.J. St.Croix says:

did anyone else notice how bad Frank Shamrock ripped on Ken about not being able to fight and thus shaming the family name lol how long before Ken starts freakin out and calling Frank out lol.

just an idea that me and my friends had while watching the kimbo fight. anyone else think he took a fall? he was heavily favored in the fight and he didnt take any real damage. just seemed like the hits he took would not be enough to really hurt anyone. the amount of money he could have made by betting against him self was very substantial. right before the fight, the payout was 4 to 1 for him to lose, and much, much higher for him to lose by KO in the first round. just the way he fell and the way he reacted seemed a bit strange after watching a lot of MMA

    • R.J. St.Croix says:

i never really agree on these theories anyways, to many people have to much to lose when it comes to working a fight and it this case i would have to say no for sure based on the idea that any betting taking place for tonights main event was betting for Kimbo vs. Shamrock not Kimbo vs. Petruzelli and any bets on Shamrock would not be transferred to Petruzelli but instead just become null and void. if someone did somehow make a last minute bet on Petruzelli to win there is no guarantee that he was as big of an underdog or even an underdog at all, i cant see the odds makers giving a 4 to 1 on a late replacement with no time to do any research.

i really liked last nights fights.kimbo had it coming he was getting way way way to cocky

  6. Amir says:

What the hell was Ninja Rua thinking going after such a strong puncher? I knew he was going to get KO’d any second..just when he started taking over the fight..he got way too aggressive and there you have it…what a bonehead.

As for Kimbo, it’s hard to really “sum up” or find meaning for what happened. There is no doubt in my mind that Kimbo has been rocked much harder by much stronger punches in his life. This was an absolute freak KO accident that shocked Seth just as much as everyone else.

Travis Lutter’s KO of Marvin Eastman ring a bell anyone? It’s so obvious that he couldn’t believe what he did.

And the same goes for Wandi’s KO of Keith Jardine…I think some these guys just have a certain spot on their head that when hit right by even the slightest blows, immediately KOs them. it’s definitely wierd and I do believe that 9 times out of 10, Kimbo KOs Seth Petruzzelli .

The best part was watching the slo-mo when Jared Shaw is in the crowd as Kimbo is falling down, screaming at the ref that Petruzzelli is hitting him in the back fo the head. It must feel really ****** working for such a company that never has your back.

    • R.J. St.Croix says:

your example of Lutter and Eastman is exactly what i was talking about, Marvin was KOed in practice before that fight, so in the fight it left him more susceptible to being KOed again. humans were never meant to be punched in the head, so when they do get punched in the head bad things occur. maybe Kimbo was KOed a day or two before the fight and didnt worry much about it because he wasnt expecting Ken to test his chin, in comes Seth and with a well place jab out goes Kimbo.

  7. R.J. St.Croix says:

here is another example of this sort of thing from my own experience, i have a very good chin (i won a few fights just because the other guy got freaked out by throwing there best and having it do nothing) i had a fight one time where during a take down attempt (me trying to take him down) he sprawled on me and when i was on my knees and elbows holding his legs with him holding me under my armpits, somehow he got a knee in that landed on my temple and put me right out for a few seconds (although i was the only one who knew it at the time) when i snapped out of it a realized what i was doing i worked my way back to my feet were i continued getting rocked by every little shot he threw. i did go on to win that fight with a nice left hook that put him down and a storm of soccer kicks and headstomps that finished it, but the only reason i know this is because i watched the tape a bunch of times later lol. one week later i lost my first fight because i got rocked with the first punch and proceeded to take an asss kicking for the next 20 minutes, i was thinking “oh no my chin is gone!!” and i was wondering if i was even going to be able to compete anymore till my doctor told me it was just a very mild concussion and i should take some time off.

  8. Amir says:

I’m also going to go out and say that I think Ken Shamrock’s excuse was complete and absolute bullsh*t. I did not believe one word coming out of his mouth during the interview, he did not look at the camera once, as if he was clearly hiding something. The guy is a fraud and I think he treats us with contempt and morons by trying to play this “fight hype” game so hard and then pulling a stunt like this. I hope his career is finally over with this debacle.

  9. Amir says:

A big cut? you really think so? I was expecting a bloody gash across his face when they announced what happened. Theres a lot of speculation going around about how it happened but I certainly didn’t think the cut was nearly as severe as what they made it out to be.

    • Dr J says:

Dont forget though. It wasn’t Ken who pulled out of the fight. The Florida Athletic Commission is the one who looked at the injury and pulled him off of the fight card; Ken didn’t take himself off.

    • R.J. St.Croix says:

i dont think the cut was all that bad but the spot was a bad spot, one shot and it would have opened right up and impaired his vision. from the look of the cut it was something they would have called the fight on (if it happened during the fight) so of course the FSAC was not going to let him get in there, especially since he is an aging fighter who the athletic commissions believe could get seriously hurt even without coming in to the fight with a big disadvantage.

  10. PATRICK says:

he may he injured him self on purpose … self inflicted the injury … i did believe him either amir… he said he was just light sparring… then the cut to the announcers and they said it was a headbutt… someone is full of **** and its elitexc and ken shamrock…

    • R.J. St.Croix says:

im not sure how i feel about the whole “Shamrock hurt him self” thing, i guess it would benefit Ken to cut himself if his balls dropped off the day before and he realized he was going to get stomped by Kimbo and with his “pro” wrestling background im sure hes no stranger to slashing up his own face with a razor. on the other hand im sure he would have made a hell of a lot more money win or lose if he fought.

  11. bvrasp says:

guess ill throw in my 2 cents.. Shamrock wasnt scared, that guys brave to the point of stupidity he wouldnt hurt himself AND lose his purse because of fear.

Kimbo didnt take a dive either, it makes no sense to anyone for him to take a dive. He got caught walking into a punch, though it wasnt a hard shot, he moved into it and caught it right on the button. This stunned Kimbo for a second and caused him to lose his legs for a split second. This was right at the start fo the fight so Seth was at 100% power and stamina allowing him to jump on Kimbo and pound him out quick.

Tough break, but there wasnt any funny business going on.. thats my opinion..

  12. richard says:

now seth is saying that elitexc was trying to prusaude him to stand with kimbo and not take him down.

  13. Eddyqpr says:

i paid for see shamrock vs slice match, no another “no name” fighter.. FORGET the stupid Kimbo KO, and i STILL want to see shamrock vs slice fight I WANT A ******* REMATHC!! cuz the Shamrock’s name is take down right now.. if shamrock don’;t accept, means he already fear and “auto-cut” for his fear about Slice killer punches.. PLEASE VOTE FOR SHAMROCK VS KIMBO – PART 2, without fuckings child CUTS!!
