The UFC middleweight division just got a little better as Denis Kang has signed a new four fight contract with the promotion.

Kang is a veteran of PrideFC and is the current heavyweight champion of SpiritMC in South Korea. Kang finished in second place in the 2006 Pride Welterweight Grand Prix losing to Kazuo Misaki in the finals.

After the loss to Misaki, Kang lost two of his next three fights and dropped from most critic’s top ten rankings list. Kang has bounced back and won his last two fights, however, both via KO in the first round.

When Zuffa, LLC purchased PrideFC, Kang was one of the highly prized fighters on their roster but didn’t sign with the UFC because of his desire to continue fighting in SpiritMC where he was a top draw. It appears now that Kang will look to get some exposure here in North America and draw on the fan-base of his native Canada.

This is huge news and an excellent signing for the UFC. Kang is expected to make his UFC debut in early 2009. With the addition of Kang as well as the inclusion of the WEC’s middleweight division, the UFC will have some new blood in a sorely lacking middleweight division.

yes.. this is such good news.. that division was badly in need of some talent, I think that Anderson Silva might be interested in this one.. :) I see Kang doing one or two then getting a title shot. heck the way the UFC has been going he might get Silva off the jump.. who knows..

Ya very good news, be nice to see Kang in the UFC, hopefully he doesnt struggle with injuries too much or he might not last too long.

like Kansas stated this is indeed good news, with the signing of Kang and a few good middle weights from WEC it’ll really help the middleweight division in the UFC. if they can find a way to sign a few guys like Misaki, Mousasi, Akiyama, and Lawler it would really round out the division and then all they gotta is fix the heavyweight division lol.
