For fans of The Ultimate Fighter reality show on SpikeTV, the main question recently has been regarding who will be the coach opposite Michael Bisping for season 9?

That question was answered yesterday by UFC President Dana White at the UFC Fight Night 16 press conference in North Carolina.

White stated that the winner of the Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin fight at UFC 93 next month will be the second coach for TUF 9. UFC 93 is currently scheduled for January 17 and will take place in Dublin, Ireland.

The announcement came as somewhat of a surprise as neither Franklin or Henderson has seemed too enthusiastic about the coaching possibility when questioned in the past. Franklin already served as a coach on the TUF series when he appeared on the second season coaching against Matt Hughes.

The Ultimate Fighter: Season 9 will include both lightweight and welterweight fighters and will feature a U.S.A vs U.K. head-to-head format. Bisping will, naturally, lead the British team with Franklin or Henderson leading the U.S. team. TUF 9 is currently scheduled to begin airing in April of 2009.

i had a feeling that was going to happen. i read a while back that the two coaches were going to be Bisping and Hendo, but when they put together the Franklin vs. Henderson match i was thinking that i dont see them making Dan the coach if he just got hammered by Franklin. if it ends up being Henderson as coach (im picking Franklin to win BTW) i can see the winner of Bisping vs. Hendo getting a title shot shortly after.

lol i just got a funny thought, when i read “neither Franklin or Henderson has seemed too enthusiastic about the coaching possibility when questioned in the past.” i was thinking how funny would it look if they were BOTH trying to throw the fight lol.
Rogan: Franklin misses with the left, what the hell the both went down.
Goldy: that supersonic punch was enough to put em both out, partner.
    Rogan: no!
    Goldy: no?
    Rogan: no!
    Goldy: and its alllll oooverrrr!
Rogan: are you even watching the fight?
Goldy: yes and this fight has been brought to you by Bud light, drink it!
Rogan: well i guess this is what happens when two world class athletes get in the cage and dont use the rubberguard.
Goldy: you got that right partner!
    Rogan: shut up Goldy…
Goldy: ….. so who won anyways?
Rogan: *throws down headset and walks away*

now thats a p.p.v. worth getting lol.

lol RJ that was funny man, thought you could have squeezed in an “aaaaare youuuuu kidding meeeee” in there. You got Goldberg dead on though lol.

In terms of who has to coach, i think its obvious, Rich already did his time, Hendos gotta bite the bullet on this one. Looks like these guys arent getting much compensation for doing the show considering how much time it takes out of their life/training/family etc.. Probably the biggest thing would be exposure which Franklin already got and the possibility of a title shot after the season is over. Now we all know Bisping isnt any kind of champ, the only reason hes there is because hes from the UK. I see this being a crappy season…

I wish they would do another COMEBACK season considering how many guys the UFC has cut in the past 2 years, i dont think they would have much trouble finding big name talent.

yeah a comeback would be great, whats up with the women in the ufc i really really really want to see gina vs cyborg, espically if gina was naked but cyborg would have to wear a jogging suit plus a bag over her head.

        • R.J. St.Croix says:

i dont think Gina vs. Cyborg is fair, we all know Cyborg is really Wanderlei in a wig lol. but for real i think Dana should do what he was talking about and grab up some of the female talent and put them in WEC.

    cool stuff –

You guys think Wand will beat Rampage? … I just watched the interviews… man I dunno, totally impartial on this, but Jackson looks soulless… like he is empty and has lost it man.. you guys notice that “blankness” he has now? Weird…. I dunno, I think he is a great fighter, and under normal circumstances I could see him maybe dry humping Wand 3 rounds and maybe even landing a bomb on the chin and ending it, but I just don’t see passion, excitement, or confidence in him…. and Forrest Griffin too… he just seems so defeated already, his “game plan” is poor and while he will stay busy I am sure, Rashad will be quicker and will land shots on his chin if he tries what he did to Jackson… I am kind of disappointed with both Jackson and Griffin at this point, but happy for Wand, if he wins and so does Rashad, they will hook up in 6 months and who knows..

  6. MMAKansas says:

I am excited for Thiago Alves, as I said a year ago, I think he is the next big thing, he is the next Wand/Penn in my book, I see him losing via decision to Penn or GSP but coming back in a year to win against either as they age and lose their edges… I like Alves, he is a really awesome fighter and he mowed Hughes down with equal ease as that of GSP-

I think BJ will beat GSP, I think he will maintain distance with GSP in the jab and when GSP comes in to close the gap either BJ will land THE bomb or he will go to rubber guard and sub the seemingly unsubmittable GSP with a choke or some unheard of on the spot invented while down there submission… BJ is pretty creative down there and I have never seen him so confident, focused, goal oriented, almost obsessed… GSP has been this focused and athletic sense coming on the scene, he is now more aggressive and quicker to pull the trigger and jump in, he over commits on his shakedowns now, which is why he gets them 90% of the time, but I don’t think he will get Penn down so easily and if they strike, I see BJ holding his own… It will be the greatest fight since Liddell v Wand for me.. in MMA there is nothing else happening except this fight and Wand v Rampage – that’s all that is going on in my MMA Universe right now.. I could care less about all the rest..

  7. bvrasp says:

For GSP and BJ, i want BJ to win and for that reason im picking him, but GSP is definately the favorite and theres a good chance he will win. Georges has reached his peak man in his conditioning and skills. BJ has improved his conditioning too, but that showed most at 155, i dont know what kind of shape hes gonna be in for a 170 match. I think GSP will win by decision because of the conditioning factor.

  8. MMAKansas says:

Ben Saunders didn’t disappoint… hmmm I didn’t hate that fight, it was good.

  9. bvrasp says:

oh wow! i didnt see that coming… man this was a pretty brutal fightcard, broken bones, blood, submissions knockouts, it had it all.

  10. MMAKansas says:

Overall…. I would say that was one of the best sequences of fights/fight cards in 2008, those guys earned their checks -

OMG – ROGAN IS LIKE ABOUT TO JUMP THE REF

  12. R.J. St.Croix says:

sorry boys i didnt stick around to chat it out with yall, my youngest boy has been getting these big allergic type welts on his face off and on all day but every time we try to take him to the doctor its gone by the time the doctor sees him so my wife has been online all night trying to figure it out lol its friggin odd man, and thats coming from a father of six who has seen it all with kids or so i thought lol.

    • R.J. St.Croix says:

i did see the fights though and can you say wow! Koscheck blasted Yoshida HARD! that was nuts. Cantwell makes Al-Hassans arm bend the wrong way, and makes me squirm right off my couch. in the bummer of the night my boy Goulet gets smashed, fast! Wiman gets his asss handed to him, round after round. and the most annoying ref i’ve ever seen. i will say it was a good show, i dont care what anyone says the no name, unknown, new, up-and-coming, and mid card fighters put on a good show! there is no reason the UFC cant put on a weekly show just like that, even cut it down by an hour. there is enough talent around and the UFC can make lots of money with a weekly or bi-weekly so why not?

  13. richard says:

man my picks licked nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!but damn those where some good fights
