well gents im really going to have to take this one serious, after absolutely dying on my picks for Wednesday (last in our camp) im gonna HAVE to bounce back for this one. my picks go like this, for now at least, im up for making changes so if someone thinks one of my picks is dumb let me know.

Anthony Johnson/Kevin Burns = Johnson round 1 TKO
Wilson Gouveia/Jason MacDonald = MacDonald round 3 sub
Ryan Bader/Vinicius Magalhaes = Magalhaes round 2 sub
Phillipe Nover/Efrain Escudero = Nover round 1 TKO
Dave Kaplan/Junie Browning = Browning unanimous decision
    Krzysztof Soszynski/Shane Primm = round 2 TKO
Kyle Kingsbury/Tom Lawlor = Lawlor unanimous decision
    Jules Bruchez/Eliot Marshall = round 1 sub
Shane Nelson/George Roop = Nelson unanimous decision
Roli Delgado/John Polakowski = Delgado unanimous decision
the Delgado/Polakowski fight is the hot bout and like a lot of the hot bouts its a hard one to call, the reason i picked Delgado by decision is because his reach and and his ground game should be able to keep him out of trouble and scoring points, but i also dont think twig boy (Roli) could finish a can of pop lol. so give me your thoughts and tell me your picks.

Most of our picks are the same RJ,

      Johnson 1st round KO
      Macdonald 2nd round TKO
      Vinnie 1st round sub
      Efrain 2nd round sub

I picked Kaplan over Junie just because i hate that punk so much im trying to will him into failure. Kaplan by Split

      Krzysztoff 1st round KO
      Lawlor by split
      Elliot 2nd round sub
      Roop by split
      Roli by split

I picked alot of split decisions because i see them as close fights and the judges seem to be out to lunch most of the time. All you need is one judge who wasnt paying attention to end up with a split. Anyways thats my picks…

My wagers are pretty simple.. 1 got 1 bet and a parlay for half my cash and its all basically riding on Efrain. I have exactly 800 (dont laugh!) :)

I got Vinnie, Macdonald and Efrain in the parlay for 400 to win $4,936. Then i put the other 400 on Efrain to win for $1,240.

I think Efrain is the best underdog on the card, meaning instead of +330 or whatever it is, the actual fight is much closer to even.

      • R.J. St.Croix says:

the one thing i can see happening is Nover getting over aggressive and getting caught, maybe a knee ducking in or a giving up a bad position on the ground going for the sub. im not gonna change my pick just because i see Nover overwhelming Efrain quick, but like i said if Efrain can stay cool under fire he could pull of the upset.

i think ur picks are pertty solid, the only one i think im torn on is goveia but i still havent made my pics.

    • R.J. St.Croix says:

im thinking this will end up being Gouveias last go in the UFC (for a while at least) he needs a big win bad and this could be the one, but MacDonald is a gamer and even though hes not the best fighter you better bring your A game if you wanna beat him. im thinking Gouveia will do just fine in this fight right up until the third round when he gets a bit tired and slips up and MacDonald takes advantage with a choke of some sort.

Ok this is way off topic but maybe someone can clarify this for me…

Cole, 32, was arrested by the Medford, Oregon police department the morning of June 14 and charged with first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sexual penetration.

now, the situation here was Devin Cole went drinking with an this chick who was an aquaintance of his. They went somewhere to “be alone” then i guess she changed her mind so lets assume he raped her for arguments sake.

How is that a 1st degree rape? im picturing 1st degree rape as he was dressed in all black wearing a ski mask and he raped some random chick in a dark alley somewhere. I thought 1st degree meant premeditated or something, but lets move on.

2 counts of 1st degree sodomy?? how does that work? was he a premeditated doodoo chaser? did he have a ball gag and a tube of vaseline in his pocket or something? and why is it 2 counts? there was only 1 chick, so did he sodomize her twice?

Then theres 2 counts of 1st degree penetration, is that 1 count for each hole? but if he sodomized her twice, wouldnt that be 3 counts including the vag?

If he raped her then he deserves to be punished, but i hate how they stack on all these charges for 1 offence. Im surprised they didnt add on assault because he cant rape someone without assaulting them, battery which just means putting your hands on someone without their consent. How bout indecent exposure, public intoxication, etc, etc, etc..

for ***** sakes, pick a charge and stick with it.

Were just gonna have to wait till tomorrow and see what happens. Me and Miguel Torres are both picking Efrain hehe.

  5. bvrasp says:

Some people have been critical of Frank Mir since TUF 8, talking about how hes a prick or whatever. Personally i never got that impression, but theres been alot of hate and Frank called for an interview to clarify his position on MMA and reality TV.

Very nice interview, check it out guys..

doc.. my posts not showing up again….

  7. R.J. St.Croix says:

big props to BV, you called it brother.

    • bvrasp says:

hehe yea, i think what made Nover look so invincible was the guys he fought on the show. Efrain definately fought the tougher guys, so he wasnt finishing guys in the 1st with ease.

No doubt though, Nover is still a great well rounded fighter, though i think all the GSP/Anderson Silva talk is way to soon.

  8. R.J. St.Croix says:

good card over all, like i always talk about the young guns puttin on a good show for the fans. i must say im surprised as hell by the outcome of BOTH finals fights.

    • bvrasp says:

ya very good card, too bad for Vinnie, dam Bader has a huge right hand, even getting the KO from a partially blocked shot.

I was so pissed that Junie won.. sigh.. great now we have to keep seeing him in the UFC.

Im pretty sure i got my *** handed to me in the picks tonight.. i lost my parlay but i had half my cash on Efrain so that should probably put me back even on the money.

  9. R.J. St.Croix says:

hahaha my sister-in-law (gus-swifey) got top spot for our camp tonight. awesome stuff seeing as shes been sitting at the bottom for ever now.

  10. bvrasp says:

You know what the funny thing is.. I thought if Efrain won, that my parlay was in the bag, little did i know that Vinnie would lose lol. I dont even remember the last time i won a parlay wager

Gotta love mma, one big right hand can overcome a lifetime of discipline and training. Not to take anything away from Bader tho, it was not some lucky punch, when you formulate a gameplan and execute it, its not luck.

Even Serra vs GSP wasnt luck, he knew nobody respected his striking and he surprised GSP and the world really.

  11. bvrasp says:

Thankfully we only have one event left this season because we have ALL taken a beating this season.

This next event is gonna be im portant for picks, with the exception of MikeD the prize positions are up for grabs. Me, RJ and Doc are all within 7 points of each other with banned trailing us at between 20-30 points.

  12. bvrasp says:

Richard, you were right they have Wandy as the favorite vs Rampage (as it should be) but i thought they would be a bit more biased on that one.
