Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin posted a quick update to his personal website following his loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 93 this past weekend.
After losing the decision to Dan Henderson, Rich has some healing to do. He had to get stitches in two spots on his head from the head butt, and stitches on his shin from one of his kicks. Everyone has been asking about his eye- from the eye poke at the end of the fight- and we are happy to say he doesn’t need surgery. He does have a cut on the white part of his eye and a slight tear, but it doesn’t require surgery. Pictures have been posted so you can see what it looks like now.

i was looking at the pics from Franklins website and i was thinking to myself “man Rich is a f*cking warrior!” just as i clicked on the pic of him with the eye patch and the pretty pink neck pillow lol, for real though Rich took a manly assskicking in that fight and all those little injuries suck… BAD! a bunch of stitches all over his head, some on his shin, and that nasty eye, gawd i feel bad for him you know how hard it is to sleep at night with stitches in your nugget? i couldnt imagine just trying to have a good day with all those nagging little things this just f*cking with you…. i just gave myself one thing to be glad about that i dont fight any more lol i HATE swollen eyes! lol
ya, especially the eyepoke, completely unintentional and really made no difference in the outcome of the fight, but DAM.. why did it have to happen. Sucks bigtime but thats the risks you take as a pro fighter.
thats why i hope the UFC carries some heavy insurance for fighters care because a half inch to the right and Rich might have one less eye and one less career. hopefully if something like that happens that fighter will be well taking care of after.

By the way, Rich said he thought he won the fight with Hendo, I think Hendo won the fight, not in devastating fashion, but I felt it was a pretty obvious win.
I guess after fighting Anderson Silva, any fight you don’t go to sleep in or make it to the end would be considered “great” for Rich at this point.. lol

No payout disclosures yet on UFC 93?
Since it was in Ireland and their is no commission over there, we probably won’t ever see them. We haven’t had payout info from any of the European events the UFC has done.
