In an interview with Hawaiian station KHON, UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn says that leading up to UFC 94 he was planning on the rematch with Georges St. Pierre being his last fight.
Is this more banter and posturing from Penn or is he seriously contemplating retirement. In the past few days, Penn stated his desire to face Kenny Florian sometime this summer but has also alluded to a potential retirement as well.

Who cares what BJ does with his career? there’s nothing sadder in my opinion than wasted talent…BJ has been given every opportunity to do whatever he wants in the UFC and once again, he showed that he was all talk. Like usual, he disrespected his opponent, and himself by saying the things that he said and he got a nice fat slice of humble pie.
I think it’s unfair to guys like Florian who have been paying their dues for a long time and have to go chase after this guy because he’s “too good” to fight them.
I remember this same thing happened in the Hughes rematch, with all this hype and trash talking (on BJ’s part of course), and once again, he showed that he doesn’t give a sh-t about conditioning.
Those of us who have been MMA fans for along time, know all the expectations and stories about BJ Penn and how he was this “Prodigy”, but you know what? the new kids and fans catching on to MMA just see him as some guy that talks a lot and doesn’t back it up with wins and titles.
