Strikeforce officially announced today their second event for their new Showtime contract.

The event will take place on June 6 in St. Louis, MO and will feature a main event “superfight” between Jake Shields and Robbie Lawler.

Before the promotion closed its doors, Shields was the EliteXC welterweight champion while Lawler was the reigining middleweight champion. Neither fighter has fought since EliteXC went out of business in November of 2008.

The two fighters will meet at a catchweight of 182 pounds for the superfight.

Strikeforce also officially announced that current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Renato Sobral will defend his title against Rafael Cavalcante on the fight card.

Also rumored to appear on the fight card are Jorge Gurgel, Kim Couture, Joey Villasenor, and Evangelista Santos.
