Thomson vs. Melendez Rematch Off

The upcoming rematch between current Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson and former champion Gilbert Melendez has been called off due to injury.

Thomson just recently suffered a clean break in his ankle during training and will be sidelined for several months as the injury heals.

Thomson and Melendez were scheduled to fight on the April 11 Strikeforce card on Showtime. As of now, no replacement opponent for Melendez has been named.

The April 11 Strikeforce fight card will be headlined by a fight between Frank Shamrock and Nick Diaz. The event will also mark Strikeforce’s first event on Showtime since their recent purchase of ProElite’s assets.
