For just once, it’s finally nice to see UFC president Dana White get a taste of his own medicine.

For the week leading up to UFC 99, much was named about the “verbal agreement” that Dana White had in place with Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.

For the first time in White’s reign, a bout was agreed to by word of mouth along and not accompanied by pen-and-paper. While insisted he was good friends with Cro Cop and trusted the Croatian’s word when he said he was ready to make a run at the UFC’s heavyweight title.

Well, Mirko’s return was extremely brief as Cro Cop revealed he would not be returning to the UFC as he already had a three fight contract in place with DREAM.

As you can imagine, Dana White was not too happy:

“Isn’t that a dirty [expletive] thing to do?” White asked rhetorically after being queried about Filipovic’s deal with DREAM. “He [expletived] me. The first time in the history of the company I do one over the phone. He promised me a three-fight deal and he [expletived] me.”

“He didn’t keep his word,” White said, who said he’d had a two-hour talk with Filipovic on the day Filipovic texted and asked to be able to return. “He talked about honor and all this other [expletive] and he [expletived] me.

“He fed me this bull [expletive] about wanting to take a run for the title, and what I think he did was, he went out and did this. He turned down every other [expletive] fighter I offered him, because I needed him to fight Cain. He didn’t just poke Al-Turk; he poked me, too.”

For a strong businessman as White, not signing a fighter to a contract was an extremely amateurish mistake.

However, I have a feeling the last laugh may be on Mirko. If no official contract was actually signed and since the match took place in Germany and outside any jurisdiction of any US-based athletic commission, I would not be surprised at all if we hear that Zuffa refuses to pay Cro Cop for his victory at UFC 99.

i can see this causing some issues down the road because Dana is gonna be REAL tight with his contracts from now on.

  2. organic punch says:

Yeah, I think the UFC will not pay his check.

    Hey Doc,

Great news, my Xbox was repaired and is now fully up & running.
I am interested in joining the next tournament. What do I have to do?

I have one minor issue that I need you guys to help me with, since I’m not much of a hardcore gamer. It seems that whenever I play Unleashed online, my fighters quickness is drastically slower than my opponents…almost as if the software is freezing and doesn’t let me control it like I can when I’m not using Live.

Would it be a problem with my network? I have a DSL line directly plugged into my console, no wireless.

Also, could downloading demos while playing Live cause it to slow down?

I ask because it’s pathetic, since I started playing a few days ago…my record is like 2-10…and even though I’m still learning…I don’t think I suck THAT bad.

    Please help.

    Thanks Doc,

    What is CAF?

Any ideas regarding my other technical issue with the game?

    • bvrasp says:

Amir, CAF is a fighter you creat yourself through career mode.

Your tech problems just sound like lag, thats mostly based on who your playing against. In a “player match” you can connect with one of your buddies who you know has a good connection but theres not much you can do about Lag if your playing ranked matches because it randomly connects you with other players.

When your playing something online it automatically pauses any downloads so thats not the problem.

So give me your gamertag and ill add you so we can play later on today and ill show you a couple things to up your game before the next tourney.

  5. Amir says:

Awesome BV, that’s cool. My gamertag is AmirTSEKUN. I’m glad to hear that it’s not something technical with my console and it can be very common. It’s just so frustrating when my fighter is in slow motion and can’t block or do anything.

Anyway, I should be on later tonight..probably after 9pm eastern.
try not to get too annoyed dealing with my lack of XboxLive expertise…lol.

  6. Amir says:

That’s really wierd. That is what I log in under. Would it recognize it even if I was not signed in?
I only was able to get on after about 9:30pm eastern last night…but that is my name on there….wierd.

  7. Amir says:

    And what’s your gamertag?

  8. bvrasp says:

It was in my last post Amir, gamertag: bvrasp
