Affliction Entertainment has officially confirmed that Vitor Belfort and Jorge Santiago will fight on the upcoming Affliction: Trilogy fight card.
Belfort was first expected to fight Gegard Mousasi, but that fight was later cancelled when Vitor refused to meet at a catchweight. The Belfort vs. Santiago fight will take place at middleweight.
Vitor Belfort has fought on both Affliction fight cards to date, defeating Terry Martin in 2008 and Matt Lindland this past January, both by KO.
Jorge Santiago is riding a nine-fight winning streak dating back to early 2007 and has fought most recently in the Sengoku promotion defeating the likes of Yuki Sasaki, Kazuhiro Nakamura, and Kazua Misaki.
Affliction: Trilogy is currently scheduled for August 1 in Anaheim, California and will be headlined by a heavyweight fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett.
Also on the fight card are Gegard Mousasi vs. Renato Sobral, Jay Hieron vs. Paul Daley, Chris Horodecki vs. Dan Lauzon, and Takanori Gomi vs. Brett Cooper.
