Mike Swick

UFC welterweight contender Mike Swick has been forced to pull out of his UFC 103 fight against Martin Kampmann due to injury.

While no specifics have yet been revealed, it appears that Swick suffered an injury during his training camp and will be unable to compete. UFC newcomer Paul Daley has been pegged as Swick’s replacement and will fight Kampmann.

This is a tough blow both for Swick and Kampmann. Many MMA critics assumed the winner of the Swick vs. Kampmann bout would get the next crack at Georges St. Pierre’s welterweight belt.

makes you wonder who they plan to feed to GSP next. getting past Daley doesnt really push Kampmann to that #1 contenders spot, Alves just got beat by St.Pierre, Fitch got beat by GSP not long ago, Koscheck has had a few stumbles lately, Condit just lost to Kampmann, so what other possibilities are there…… Anderson at 185? i would like to see him fight Anderson at 185 or even give him a lower level 185er to see how he does, that way we’ll know if its a good idea for GSP to try and fight Anderson at all AND it’ll give the welter weight division a little more time to sort it self out a bit. just my thoughts.

ok so i was just looking at the rumor section of mma weekly and i have the answer to who should fight St.Pierre next…….. the winner of Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni at UFC 106! LMAO.

i have no idea why baroni is even back the guy sucks azzz and doesnt deserve to fight in the ufc anymore.

        • bvrasp says:

Richard, the Baroni thing is because the past few months the UFC has been signing almost anyone who has a name in MMA. Probably just to stop them from generating any interest for another promotion, thats why they got Tito back too and thats why they locked Randy down for the rest of his career. Its like theyre playing defense or something in the promotion game hehe.

RJ i still think its gonna end up being Kampman or Swick regardless, but thats a great idea about having GSP test the waters at 185. I would LOVE to see him fight a MW, someone at about the middle of the pack with enough wrestling to be able to use his size to maybe neutralize GSPs wrestling. Tecnique is great but strength plays a big part in wrestling, its harder to wrestle a stronger guy when your both technical.

Hmm… didnt Matt Hamill drop down to 185? that could be an interesting match up for Georges, ofcourse he outclasses him on the feet but id enjoy watching him pick Hamill apart. Hes a pretty tough dude with a good chin and some heavy hands, although he is kind of slow and lumbering.

What you think? or what other 185er would you match against GSP?

      • R.J. St.Croix says:

Jorge Rivera or Chael Sonnen are both tough and both are middle of the road ether could be a good introduction to the middle weights for GSP. i would like to see GSP have a go at middle weight, if he can still do all the same things at MW that he can at WW i think he could make a title run, with exception of Anderson who can beat (provided his style translates well) St.Pierre in the middle weights? this is why i wanna see them test it, if he cant hang with the bigger boys then let it be but if he can then we will have a potential super fight worth being hyped up about. if St.Pierre can work his way to a legit title shot the fans will be drooling to see GSP vs. Anderson.

Interesting, given a choice between the two i would say Sonnen. Very good wrestling and instead of outclassing him at his own game (like GSP did with Kos) i could see him keeping it standing where he definately has the advantage over Sonnen. I really wanna see Georges KOing guys again, because we all saw the fallout after his past few fights where he dominated with his wrestling. It makes alot of people unhappy….

Doc or anyone know where to watch Bitetti combat? i been looking everywhere and nobody seems to have a stream. I really want to see this event, very respectable fightcard, mostly im interested to see where Arona is at these days.

    Heres the main fight card

    Ricardo Arona vs. Marvin Eastman
    Paulo Filho vs. Alex Schoenauer
    Pedro Rizzo vs. Jeff Monson
    Murilo Rua vs. Alex Stiebling
    Luciano Azevedo vs. Milton Vieira
