According to Josh Gross of Sports Illustrated, UFC middleweight/light heavyweight Dan Henderson is currently a free agent and is in the process of trying to sign a new deal with the UFC.
Gross posted the following to Twitter early this morning (read from the bottom to the top to get the stream of info in chronological order):

This is very interesting news if accurate. We all know that “Hendo” is eager to get his rematch with Anderson Silva for the middleweight belt, and we also know that Silva’s camp seems to be against the idea. Anderson and Co. have voiced their ideas of having Henderson face Marquardt for the No. 1 contender spot.

Man I hope the UFC doesn’t F-up and let Dan slip away. Hes one of my all time favorites. I bet he tries to work in a title shot as part of his next contract. I would like to see him fight Nate that would be a great fight. hard to pick a winner in that one. I don’t see hime beating anderson but do think he will do better than last time.
There’s no way they are that dumb to let him go. Won’t happen. He’s one of the most decorated MMA fighters of all time, a former TUF coach, an American (from a marketing perspective), and incredibly durable.
