Jon Fitch

A welterweight matchup between Jon Fitch and Ricardo Almeida has been officially announced for UFC 106.

The fight will be the first for Almeida at welterweight, as he has spent his last four fights at middleweight since returning to the UFC. Almeida went 3-1 over that span with a victory against Kendall Grove in his last fight at UFC 101.

UFC 106 is currently scheduled for November 21 in Las Vegas, NV and will be headlined by the UFC heavyweight title fight between current champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Shane Carwin.

Jon Fitch continues to remain on of the top welterweight fighters in the world with only one loss on his record in the past seven years, with that loss coming in a title fight against current UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. Fitch last fought at UFC 100 where he defeated Paulo Thiago via decision.

UFC 106 will also feature a light heavyweight fight between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin as well as the UFC debut of Antonio “Lil Nog” Nogueira against Luiz Cane.

Gilbert Yvel got a one fight license in Nevada, hes getting a chance to show them that he wont cheat in his fight, use roids or attack the official. Considering hes a big name free agent it makes sense for the UFC to sign Gilbert for atleast 1 fight and give him a shot at the big time.

Especially considering its in Nevada, who else is he signing with if not the UFC? Theres alot of interesting opponents for him at HW, like Kongo or Herring for starters. Ofcourse his ground game is lacking, but he always makes it an exciting fight especially if they match him up with another striker.

He might be a bit of an A-hole, but ive always respected his skills. Plus if they signed guys like Baroni and Coleman they must have room for someone like Yvel.
