Today's Mixed Martial Arts News and Analysis Headquarters

Over the past six years, I have held a pretty firm stance that all content posted to MMA HQ be solely related to mixed martial arts.

Well, today I am making an exception. The fact remains that MMA HQ is still my site, and I’m choosing to make an exception here.

Josh, a very close, long-time friend of mine was in a serious lawnmower accident the day before Thanksgiving (11/25/2009).

As a result of the accident, he suffered very severe damage to his primary hand including the loss of several fingers.

Josh and his wife have two young daughters and could use any help possible during his recovery.

All donations will go directly to Josh and his family to help cover the cost of his medical bills and support them while Josh recovers and is out of work.

Thanks so much for your donations no matter how large or small,

As you can read above, a very close friend of mine was in a serious accident yesterday. While the injury didn’t end up being life-threatening, it is most definitely life-changing.

Any small amount will help, whether is be $1, $5 or $500 dollars – the amount doesn’t matter. I know the holiday season is traditionally a tough time for people with money anyways, but if you could help out I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks so much for listening. Now back to the MMA content.

I didn’t want my name on the donation Doc for identity reasons – you understand I am sure, but I wanted to let you know I care and wanted to say thanks for hosting this fun web site we all enjoy.

It’s rough out there so I hope your friend recovers and finds financial recovery in his own personal life soon.

    God Bless You.

He should come to Canada and take advantage of our universal health care. Hard to believe ive been coming on this site for three years now…I used to post lots of comments but then i started only reading the articles. Great site. Im sorry about your friend, I hope everything turns out well for him.

Gosh .. Doc posted a call for help and the site went SILENT – Guys, c’mon help somebody in need – the guy lost limbs and has a family – $5 – $10 – $50 – none of us will miss it in 3 months and this guy and his family needs it.

      Yeah, no worries on it.

I understand not everyone likes to donate, especially to someone they don’t personally know. Also, it was Thanksgiving weekend so the site traffic has been down quite a bit over the past few days.

To those who have donated, I greatly appreciate it, and to those who don’t I appreciate the thought as well.

We are raising some good money so far, so things are going well.

By the way I see that there has been $730.00 raised so far, so in retort to my own previous comment, good on you guys that have given -

ya, not alot been happening lately, the biggest news is the latest war machine horror show. Kind of low brow news just on the fringe of being considered MMA anyways thats why i havent bothered commenting on it.

If you dont know about it ill sum it up for you. War Machine is doing porn these days and he was at a porn stars Bday party where he slapped up his GF and then beat up his agent and 6 other guests.

So ya, hes going to jail soon but between him and Junie MMA has been getting a bad name, they need a better douchebag radar for the TUF show man.

    BV.

Have you noticed that for the past 8 months B.J. Penn has just kinda seemed spaced?

He was like that before the Kenflo fight… his repeated comments “I have to defend the belt, we have to defend that belt” – what the heck is up with that?

B.J. seems so DEFLATED since his loss to Pierre… it’s like all that fire he had when he was whipping up on Sherk is gone, I don’t know what to think man, I am worried that he is on a downhill and could hang it up this coming year out of depression, disinterest, or for family time reasons. He just seems detached.

You getting that vibe at all or is it me? I dunno, I just hope the blood licking, roaring, mouthy B.J. shows up complete with 6 pack and iron jab right hand at UFC 107 cause he’s gonna need it.

  7. MMAKansas says:

I think B.J. is gonna announce retirement after the fight. If he wins, he will retire, I think so.

He will have basically cleared the division at that point of any REAL contenders that pose a threat and have any sort of name rec.

  8. Banned2 says:

I would give a little but, there is talk of pfizer closing the site I work at. if they do I will have to sell my house and move somewhere that has more jobs this whole state “OHIO” is in trouble. not sure what the future holds.

  9. bvrasp says:

Kansas, i think your right, it had something to do with his last fight vs GSP. Between the “fight to the death” talk, getting dominated that badly, not being able to answer the bell (when he was the one saying he would make GSP quit). Then the whole grease gate fiasco, the complaining from him and his mom to the commission.

Man… BJ has lost alot of fans this year, all that stuff combined could account for his new attitude.

You could be right, he might decide to retire considering he HAS cleaned out the division. Somehow i think hes going to stick around and solidify his legacy with a long run as LW champ. Like a hughes kind of dominance, thats what i HOPE anyways hehe.
