On another note, Strikeforce signed Lashley too! So with Fedor and Lashley we could get a good idea how Fedor would fare against Lesnar. And they STILL havent stopped signing talent, its just getting better and better man.

    im lovin it!!

Doc thanks for the end of the year overall results, however, you didn’t post the EVENT results for UFC 107 – is that possible, or do you not feel it necessary?

  3. MMAKansas says:

    Thanks Doc.

HEY HOW ABOUT MIR??? I am on the war wagon, he is showing that he’s willing to put on the muscle and put in the work to win again, with the muscle gains, and strike improvements, (he has new striking and conditioning coaches) I believe that in 6 months – 9 months MIR takes Lesie.

    • Dr J says:

Yeah, I was very curious to see how Mir would do back up at 265. He looked in great shape fighting Lesnar at 247, but seeing him back at 264, I wasn’t sure if he was going to be back to his old, fat, out-of-shape self.

We really didnt’ get to see him do anything that required cardio, but just looking at his build, it seems like he was in good shape.

      • bvrasp says:

Ya i mentioned that after the event, we never got to see how his conditioning was affected, but hes definitely added more power to his punches.

      • MMAKansas says:

He’s training with one of those “Worlds Strongest Man” teams/guys and the dude said Mir’s gains are SOLID and DENSE – This quick disposal of Congo is good, it keeps Mir from incurring any damage while gaining up and changing course, he now has bought himself another 3-4 months to continue stacking on the gains, and then trimming off the unnecessary fat – I think it was a good thing, he looks more motivated right now than I have ever seen. He and BJ both look a bit obsessed with winning and that’s a good thing to be when your a fighter.

Hey Kansas, i read an interesting post on another site about the whole Anderson, GSP, BJ thing. Because they have all cleaned out their respective divisions, he was saying what if they ALL moved up a weight class? Anderson to 205, GSP to 185 and BJ ack to 170.

I think thats a pretty cool idea, ofcourse they wont fight each other, but its a whole new division for all of them (except BJ). New fights, different fights, new challenges, etc… Plus, they wont be monsters in their divisions because of the weight cutting. They would only be cutting about 10 pounds or so which is reasonable.

    • MMAKansas says:

Why though? – When your a title holder, you make huge money, when your a contender, you make less – who would want to just strip themself of a title, and the prestige?

I would run a 5 year 15 fight title defense streak if I were any one of those guys and just make my record unbreakable.

      • bvrasp says:

Ya thats true, the biggest benefit would be for the fans, do you really want to see Anderson fight Marquardt again? or Cote again? or Belcher now? Hendos not even around anymore. The only fight that still interests me at 185 is Wandy, they got some bad blood too, but other than that i dont see much competition, maybe Sexyama but hes pretty far from a title shot (like Wand).

GSP, i dont wanna see Kos, Fitch, Hughes, Serra again.. Alves might be able to do something different a 2nd time around, but im not exactly thrilled about the prospect. Maybe Johnson would be interesting, but we all know what happened to him. Hes been getting eyepoked in almost EVERY FIGHT! So GSP could just eyepoke him and get him outa there lol.

BJ same thing, Sherk, Joe Daddy, Florian, none of them have the striking or BJJ to even compete with BJ. Theyre talking about Frankie Edgar and Maynard who are both good fighters, but now that the conditioning isnt a factor, its hopeless man.

You know what i mean? theres no interesting title fights left for these guys.

        • bvrasp says:

Kansas, imagine if the UFC brass decided to give these 3 guys a great 3-4 year contract equal or better to the one they have as champs, under the condition that they abandon the title and the div to make for more exciting fights.

Wouldnt that make sense? they still get a champions contract and who knows! these guys are so talented they might win the belt at their new divisions once they get settled in, hows that for a legacy?

  5. MMAKansas says:

Okay.. after the making the new contract point I can see your position, definately.. but in boxing they champs just sits on his perch fighting good fighters and fighting cans – I still like to watch BJ obliterate competition – it’s soooo much fun… I love to watch GSP and Anderson do it too, I mean, it’s just fun to watch a one sided obliteration of 2nd rate competition.

All that being said, I would agree with Anderson doing it, he’s tall enough and got the reach, so he’s okay doing that, GSP needs another inch or 2 in height to pull that off IMO and BJ, he could do it if he took time off to make some strength gains without losing his cardio, otherwise, all the WW top guys are so much stronger than him now it’s tough to say how he would fare, he’d be underdog in almost every fight, I don’t like BJ as underdog, I like him as dominant alpha male — Anderson should do it, the rest not so much, GSP hasn’t been champ long enough to consider that anyways, he wants to best Hughes as the greatest WW of all time, so he needs to stay put for 2-3 more dominant title defenses.

    • bvrasp says:

Kansas your right, GSP would have the toughest time moving up, imagine him fighting Okami, i doubt he would be able to use his wrestling aginst him. Force him back to his striking and BJJ because i think those skills are suffering considering hes relying more on wrestling these days. If he didnt seriously bulk up i doubt he would ever be the champ at 185.

The BJ thing too, like imagine him fighting Alves, ya theres still a skill advantage to BJ, but the guys just so big and strong. The thing is BJ is used to fighting bigger guys, and GSP never has.

Anderson could and should do it. Hes already proved that he can hang with bigger guys and even if their skill level wasnt up to par, he showed that he can hurt anyone if he catches them.

  6. MMAKansas says:

I see BJ moving up, he’s gonna do it because he has a driven pride about him, but he wont win the title at WW – too many variables at this point and too many guys walking into their fights at 187-195 ala Alves / Kos
