wow! Rashad has really moved up on the money list, i mean almost half the payroll for this event went to him.
no kidding, i figured Rashad was on the cusp of making “superstar money” but apparently hes already there.

WOW!
He must have a hell of a negotiator working for him, i wonder if this had something to do with his TUF season work. UFC is all about being a team player, if you play ball, they take care of you man.
Im curious what his show and win numbers were. Maybe like 225k to show and 150k to win? any way you look at it theres very few MMA fighters in the world who make this kind of money per fight.
Good for him!
its gotta be his TUF work that earned him a bigger cut, its not like he has a huge fan following. someone like BJ Penn could do a pay per view of just him painting his living room and it would get good buys so i get why he makes the big bucks, but you would be hard pressed to sell a pay per view just on Rashad name alone. ether way its good to see guys making good money for there hard work and hopefully someday the lower level guys will be making $100K+ a fight.
Who’s “Name” sold 108? 400k buys is what they are claiming .. so if that’s the case, who if NOT former champ (and idiot) Rashad Evans sold this card? Junior Dos Santos???? Nope..
i think the idea of a great fight between Rashad and Thiago was the selling point, and a handful of exciting matchups to go along with it. then again i might just be living in a bubble and im not seeing the star power that Rashad has. i really didnt see 108 doing those kind of numbers (400k buys) due to it seeming like more of a Fight Night caliber card.
I think Daley helped carry it a bit, atleast with the UK fans and Yvel definitely appealed to the hardcore fans. Actually the hardcores would watch it regardless hehe. Rashad was the big sticking point though, from seeing him first appear on TUF, i never thought we would see him carrying PPV events. Especially while hes not the champ or not even fighting for the belt.
I don’t like Rashad or his style .. that being said, I went out on a very snowy and cold night with family in tow to see Silva knock him out cold.
Needless to say, I was disappointed.
OMG did you guys hear? Wand pulled off UFC 110 – says he’s got medical problems and is retiring .. cannot keep fighting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
joke?!?!…. i hope…. please!
well your joking or you have some inside info, because i cant find anything on it.
Kansas, im wondering too, because ive been searchig but found nothing either, please tell me your joking.
Made you look! HAHA!
nice one “Tricky McTrickster” you had me going for a second there lol.
I couldn’t resist.. plus I was bored ..
have a look at this:

tell me what you think about it.
for those who dont know, James Toney (pro boxer) is trying to get a fight in the UFC. in the meeting between Dana and Toney, Dana really sounds like hes wanting to make something happen but he wants it to be legit. Toney sounds like hes ether just talking sh*t or hes in for a rude awakening. lol Dana says “can you check a kick?” and Toney replies “yeah i know front kicks, back kick, all that…. side check kick.” lol. i hope Toney doesnt do it, i like James Toney…… as a boxer!
I hope he does do it – I hope he gets a beatdown in less than 30 seconds too – and I hope Mayweather steps up – against the likes of Penn and gets a beatdown too.
Boxers talk too much -
Ya i saw this video late last night, theres a few more with Toney “stalking” Dana white hehe. To be honest this confuses me a bit, i hope he knows he wont be making boxing money with the UFC. So assuming he does know that, is he just looking to test himself? or looking to make a statement for the boxing world trying to say “we can hang in the UFC” ?
Im not really sure what the motivation is for Toney, but we all know Dana will make this happen, as much as he runs his mouth about not making freakshow fights, we know what really matters for Dana and the UFC is money. Why else is Kimbo with the UFC?
Whatever the reasons Toney clearly wants this to happen and while Dana seems reluctant, its only because he doesnt want to see Toney go in there with no MMA skills and embarrass the UFC. Dana will make sure hes got atleast a solid 6 months of training (takedown defense if nothing else) before he fights in the UFC.
I believe he WILL fight in the UFC, probably a “superfight” (lol) against Kimbo.
As an MMA fan, i would love to see more elite boxers work on rounding out their game and trying their luck at MMA, were talking about guys with the best hands in the world bar none. If anything atleast it will force other fighters to improve their boxing just to stand a chance on the feet and ultimately raise the bar in the UFC once again.
Look what Lesnar did for the HW div, most people thought he was a joke and look what he accomplished with his size and wrestling acumen. Brock Lesnar is the best thing that ever happened to Frank Mir and i hope to see a similar trend happen with pro boxers in the UFC.
Seriously guys, its a bit embarrassing to see the way some MMA fighters throw punches, time to raise the bar.
i just hope for Toneys sake he takes it very serious, the way hes talking right now it sounds like hes gonna get hurt. i read something about him being asked what would happen if he got taken down and he insisted that there was no way he would allow anyone to take him down lol. if he believes that someone like Velasquez wouldnt dump him on his head and then proceed to smash his skull, then hes lost his mind completely. any good boxer will have that punchers chance, but when it comes to real pro level MMA a boxer must become an MMA fighter if he plans on winning more then one or two fights.
So I am hearing that B.J. Penn will be fighting in just 2 months – wow – he’s on a roll…
Who do you guys think will be his next vict….. opponent?
word on the street is that Frank Edgar is the most likely candidate.
im not sure about BJ, most of the talk ive heard has centered around Frankie Edgar, who in my opinion could never beat BJ. Im personally thinking more along the lines of Gray Maynard, but considering hes fighting Diaz on the 11th i doubt hes next in line for BJ.
Whoever it is – will lose.. in my best Ivan Drago voice man .. “You will lose” .. “I must break you”..
I know what you mean Kansas and i agree, to be honest it kinda sucks tho, because BJ out classes everyone in the division its not even interesting anymore. Atleast with GSP and Anderson Silva theres a chance they could lose as far as im concerned BJ has all but cleaned out the div.
When he was at WW i was saying he should drop down because its a better weight for him blah blah.. Its true, but now that he did it and whooped everyones *** (badly) im starting to think he should slowly make his way back to 170.
Other than Gomi, who else is there left for BJ? seriously its getting kinda boring man.
You out on the “street” pickin up the rumors there doc? Thanks sir – everything going okay for the MMAHQ TRANSITION?
I got a secret decoder ring, book of secret handshakes, and a schedule for the lodges next meeting ;)
Frank Edgar is ranked so low on the UFC Undisputed game.. lolz .. it’s gonna be terrible to watch him lose in the second round to BJ Penn .. possibly in the first..
One thing we havent discussed is Gomi signing with the UFC, you guys must have heard about it by now. Thats something im really excited about, even though he seems to have passed his prime in many peoples eyes, i think theres a chance for him to rebound. If he starts training in the US at some well known fight camps we could see a resurgence in his career. Some new skills and the potential to make more money than he ever has could be a good motivation for him to refocus on fighting.
Were talking about a guy who will be the hardest puncher in the UFC LW div. Maybe that will inject some more interest in the LW title picture, because right now, is there anyone your excited to see fight BJ? Ofcourse BJ could submit him, but we all know BJ likes to stand up and he WILL stand with Gomi, man what a rematch that would be!
I want to see Gomi go straight to BJ .. I know it’s not happening but before they throw him to the number 4 or 5 guy I want to see him straight up fight BJ Penn – that’s not fair, he deserves a warm up like Quinton Jackson got and Wanderlei Silva/Shogun Rua didn’t get, but anyways another discussion for another day -
you guys really think Gomi has a chance at all?
Gomi has looked pretty bad the past 18 – 24 months or so.
Doc, did you read my post? I believe that if he starts training with a good camp and has some big dollar motivation that could be enough to light a fire under him.
With the natural talent and power that Gomi has hes always dangerous man, not when he gasses in the 1st round though.
Do i think he has a chance of beating BJ right now? no.. After about a year with a few wins under his belt, i definitely think he has a chance.
One of the biggest things he has going for him is BJs ego, BJ WILL stand with him and leave the door open a crack for Gomi to do his thing. Anyone with one punch KO power is dangerous man, if you have faith in Baroni you should have faith on Gomi.
Im gonna go with bvrasp on this one.
Gomi is top 2 heavy hander in the ufc LW div right now…maybe even top 5 in the WW div, anyways.
BJ is gonna have a really tough time with Gomi on the otherside of the cage(as long as their standing) .
He’s just one of those fighters that never give up and always wants that K.O.
GOMI !
But even so if his cardio bla bla is kinda *****….if he works with the rights coach’s,fighters, works on some kind off fitness program does some crazy *** training , i could see him the next LW champ…we will just have to wait and see !!!
Ya so talking about Gomi, who would you like to see Gomi fight in his Octagon debut?
I would have loved to see Gomi square off against Neer but ofcourse he was cut from the UFC which still boggles my mind. Oh how about Hermes Franca? oh i forgot hes cut too… Oh i know a rubber match with Marcus Aurelio! that would be cool! oh ya they cut him too.. For a while there i forgot the UFC only keeps wrestlers on the roster, oh and over the hill big name guys.
ok, enough of my complaining, lets talk reality..
I would love to see him throw down with Spencer Fisher who has been calling out Gomi since his signing with the UFC was announced. Kenny and Maynard have also expressed an interest in fighting Gomi, but these guys are at the top end of the division, not suitable for an octagon debut.
Sam Stout is a guy who likes to stand up and his stock went up after his win over Lauzon, that would be a barn burner!
Huerta could give Gomi some problems but that would be a big fight, who knows what could happen in that one.
For lack of other choices maybe Melvin Guillard, could be a good 30sec or so until Gomi puts him to sleep.
Other than that, i dont know man.. Guida, Griffin, Tibau, Edgar, Sanchez, Stevenson, Sherk, etc.. guys like that will give Gomi problems (very boring problems) and theres no point even setting up those fights.
Gomi vs. Nate Diaz end of debate….. i know its wishful thinking to hope for a fight that looks anything like Gomi vs. Nick Diaz, but the potential is there besides Nate is a tough, scrappy kid who would bring the fight. a perfect debut if you ask me.
The site has changed over now guys, as you can probably tell since some posts disappeared and comments from the last few days are gone as well.
so i was wondering, (if its ok to give the info) who bought the site? was it another MMA site or is it some one just starting? im just curious as to what the “new guys” are like.
p.s. first comment under the new ownership…. yeah i am awesome lol.
so what happens now??????drj are u gonna keep posting here…..
Nah man,
I dont’ have anything to do with mmahq.com anymore. Nothing you see here now is from me.
Keep your eyes on the mailing list if you want to get updates on what I have coming up in the MMA world.
are we we working again?
do this thing work?
