Takayo Hashi

Undefeated Canadian powerhouse Sarah Kaufman (10-0) will be fighting top contender Takayo Hashi (12-1) for the Strikeforce 135-Pound Women’s Championship title. This fight was originally scheduled for November 20th but was canceled for undisclosed reasons. It will take place at Strikeforce Challengers 6 on February 26th.

Sarah Kaufman is undefeated and holds notable wins over wrestler Miesha “Takedown” Tate and submission specialist Shayna “Queen of Spades” Baszler. Kaufman defeated the two fighters by unanimous decision, but her other eight wins have come by way of knockout. In addition to her heavy hands, Kaufman also has great takedowns and submission defense.

Hashi is on an eight-fight winning streak and fights primarily in Japan. She was a Smackgirl Middleweight Champion but has also fought for DEEP, Fatal Femmes Fighting and Valkyrie. 8 of Hashi’s 12 wins have been by unanimous decision and four by submission (rear naked chokes and one armbar). She holds a notable win over the very tough Amanda Buckner and a unanimous decision win against Hitomi “Girlfight Monster” Akano (avenging her one loss).

This fight is a really hard one to call. Kaufman is a brawler with very heavy hands, and I’m not sure how Hashi will fare with that level of intensity. To win, she’ll need to be equally aggressive, use her reach advantage and definitely take the fight to the ground. Rounds are five minutes, which could work in Hashi’s favor since submissions take longer to lock in, but it could also work in Kaufman’s favor if she’s trying to hand Hashi her first KO loss.

Proverbial gun to my head, I’d probably say Kaufman has a very slight edge in this bout, but Hashi is definitely the toughest opponent she has ever faced, so anything could happen.

guys,i just read that josh neer is gonna fight eddie alvarez f*ck what a fight….

    • bvrasp says:

I saw that one Richard, Neer is the man, i hope he crushes Alvarez and shoots himself up the rankings. I don’t think anyone at LW can stand toe to toe with Neer.

I see this as the biggest fight in Belator history right here.

      oh and..

      WAR WAND!!!

      • twodragunns says:

Neer will be exposed and finished by Alvarez ……. Eddie is a top tier fighter and a complete one as well.

        • bvrasp says:

twodragunns, why do people always say that? what does that even mean? Neer will be exposed? expose the fact that he needs work on his ground game? that’s common knowledge, nothing getting exposed..

Alvarez is ranked way higher and is all around a better fighter than Neer. I just hope Neer wins, if he doesn’t pull the upset then he loses to a great champ.

          Nothing is getting exposed……
