As first announced on Hardcore Sports Radio’s The Fight Show, Claude Patrick (left) will be taking on James Wilks for UFC 120 in London on October 16th.
Wilks, a British fighter now residing in California, is best known as the winner of TUF 9 He recently scored a unanimous decision in a bout against Peter Sobotta. His background is in TKD and JKD, but he has a great submissions and heavy hands. Patrick is equally well-rounded and is on an 11-fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut just last month, defeating Ricardo Funch by guillotine.
“This fight will be a quality fight as both guys bring it and go for the win versus playing it safe,” said Eric Wong, Patrick’s strength and conditioning coach. “They’re both more inclined to win via submission, they’re both BJJ brown belts, so it could turn out to be either a technical battle on the ground or they could neutralize each other’s ground games and give the fans what they like – a standup battle.”
“In terms of his strength and conditioning, we’ll be targeting a couple of specific areas for this fight one of which will be his quickness, helping him move in and out while on the feet so he can land his strikes then get out of range, to keep him nice and pretty,” Wong explained. Wilks will probably be working on a similar strategy, making the outcome of this fight hard to predict.
UFC 120 will be headlined by Michael Bisping vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama. Dan Hardy will be fighting Carlos Condit, Cyrille Diabate is taking on Alexander Gustafsson, and there’s been rumors of John Hathaway vs. Dong Hyun Kim.

this is a message for all the fine folks here on MMHQ who would like to see MMA expand to new places (should be everyone here) and have the sport become more socially accepted. for those who dont know, MMA is still illegal in the province of Ontario (the province both bvrasp and i call home) and the MMA community needs our help to rectify this. please take a few minutes of your day to goto http://www.ufcontario.com and register and sign the petition, every name helps and maybe if they see MMA fans outside On. are willing to help they will see us as the tight community we are and that we are deserving of mainstream acceptance.
Hmmm, maybe worthy of a future article. Canada and NYC.
what ever helps to expand the sport to the level it deserves im behind it. if someone has a petition for NY i’ll be more then happy to add my name to that one too, and that goes for any state/province/territory also. like i said before if we show a solidarity within the MMA community the powers that be will have no other options but to listen and comply.
Yeah RJ, you know I’m on that like a fat kid on a cupcake. Toronto is the best place in the world for the UFC man. Rogers center.. boom! 60,000 ticket sales! TRIPLE the UFC’s current record of 20K and change.
It truly IS the mecca of MMA.
its gotta happen sooner or later… im just hoping for sooner lol.
according to his twitter Josh Koscheck will get his title shot this December “Can’t wait until tuf 12 airs in Sept! & oh ya did u guys know, that I am going to be the next welterweight champion come dec 11th. :))))))” not a very good X-mas gift for mr.Koscheck IMO.
on a side note, here is an odd GSP fact:
did you know that St.Pierre has never won more then 7 fights in a row? and hes on a 7 fight streak now. BUT good news for GSP fans, he has also never lost to anyone not named Matt so hes probably safe lol.
Yeah I saw that RJ. What Kos forgot to mention was the year. Dec 11 2012 sometime after GSP has retired or moved to MW or something. Then… MAYBE.
lol nice fun fact. Matt and Josh have to be the two most common names in MMA. First names at least… Last names would probably be Silva hehe.
