Today's Mixed Martial Arts News and Analysis Headquarters

Karo Parisyan will make his return back to the UFC later this fall when he meets Dennis Hallman at the Palace in Auburn Hills, MI.

The news first broke, courtesy of MMA Fighting, which reportedly confirmed the fight with Parisyan and several other sources.  It’ll be an interesting fight because Parisyan has had two fights since 2009 while dealing with serious personal problems.

Will he be able to bounce back and overcome his demons?  Critics have already dismissed him, saying he’s just going to quit again.

Meanwhile, Hallman has topped Danny Ruiz, Justin Davis and Ben Saunders and suffered a knockout loss to John Howard since 2009.

Since first entering the UFC with a submission victory against Dave Strasser at UFC 44 in 2003, Parisyan has been known as a talented fighter with out-of-the-cage issues.  Parisyan recorded notable wins against Drew Fickett, Nick Diaz and Matt Serra over his career, but suffered losses to Diego Sanchez and Thiago Alves.

Prior to a scheduled fight at UFC 88 against Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Parisyan mysteriously withdrew without much explanation.  Parisyan was booted out of the UFC after he unexpectedly withdrew from a scheduled fight with Dustin Hazelett last November during UFC 106.

Trouble didn’t stop there for Paryisan, as the fighter also failed a drug test after winning against Dyon Hung Kim at UFC 94.  The failed drug test resulted in his victory being turned into a no contest.

I’m all for giving people another chance, especially if he has cleaned himself up and plans to take his MMA career seriously again.  It’d be a shame for White to welcome him back only for Parisyan to screw up and have some type of episode (think: panic attack, fight withdrawal, failed drug test, etc.).

I’m pretty surprised with this move. I figured maybe Dana would have him back if he could get on an impressive winning streak, but he hasn’t even done that. Very puzzling indeed.

  2. tom b says:

let him have this fight then put him in with nate diaz to settle that TUF beef they had going.
