The UFC has today announced an exciting lightweight tilt between Evan Dunham (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Edson Barboza (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC). The bout, set to take place on May 26th from Las Vegas, was announced by Dana White today via Twitter.
@danawhite For the UFC 147 card May 16th in Vegas we just signed Edson Barboza vs Evan Dunham!! #funfight
Both Barboza and Dunham will be looking to continue rich veins of form in the UFC and both will surely realise that a big win in this bout could be a huge step up the championship ladder.
Edson Barboza has looked spectacular in his UFC career but his crowning moment happened at UFC 142 in Brazil where the decorated striker knocked out Terry Etim with a spinning wheel kick in front of his native crowd.
Evan Dunham has bounced back from consecutive defeats to parlay victories recently against TUF alumni Shamar Bailey and an exciting stoppage against Nik Lentz at UFC on FOX: Evans vs. Davis.
One other bout for this card has been revealed so far, a middleweight encounter between C.B. Dollaway and Jason Miller, and more are expected to be announced in the weeks to come. UFC 146 is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight title bout between Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem.
