The bantamweight title match between champion Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber is officially on the shelf for the time being.
It was revealed today, by sources close to the fight, that Cruz sustained an ACL injury whilst working on The Ultimate Fighter Live this past week and will be unable to compete against Faber for the third time.
The two were set to meet as the co main event of UFC 148, booked to take place on July 7th, and is headlined by the biggest fight of 2012 as Anderson Silva rematches Chael Sonnen for the middleweight title.

Faber and Cruz currently hold a win each in their series with Faber winning the first bout at WEC 26 via one armed guillotine and Cruz taking the unanimous decision victory at UFC 132.
At this point it is unclear if Faber will face another opponent at this event or whether the bout will be rescheduled. The deciding factor in this decision may very well be how serious the prognosis is on the injury.
