Would really like a pair of those white venum mma gloves!
I think these are what I like to call ground and pound gloves. They are padded to allow more realistic strike training on the ground, without damaging your partner. They allow you to grapple which full sized gloves will not let you do. They are a compimise between full sized gloves and mma gloves.
Who's had experience with these gloves? I'm training MMA this summer and I need some gloves, but these look incredibly bulky to me...
I've got a pair. I'd say they are a bit bulky. Really too bulky for extended grappling, or rolling with anybody that's any good. But if you're working light striking to a takedown, then transitioning to grappling (for a submission or breaking guard) they are okay. But they get hung up in tight places really easily. I'd recommend just a good pair of MMA gloves, and not going ape sh!t on your training partner. You'll get a more accurate/competition feel.
here's the sizing chart in case anyone wants it. http://www.armorfit.com/equipment/mma-muay-thai-gloves-thicker.html
Any chance of some victory athletics focus mitts in the near future? I've got the Thai pads and they are great!
