Joe Stevenson vs. Caol Uno at UFC 68 (UFC 69?)

January 17th, 2007 | by Dr J

Joe Stevenson*********
It looks like this fight might actuall take place at UFC 69 in April, not UFC 68 in March. I’ll try to keep everyone updated as soon as a definitive announcement is made.
*********

It appears that the rumored fight between Joe Stevenson and Caol Uno will take place on March 3, in Columbus Ohio at UFC 68. This fight has been talked about for a few weeks, and it appears that it has been confirmed, according to Joe Stevenson’s personal website.

Stevenson is making a return to the octagon after victories over Yves Edwards at UFC 61 and Dokonjonosuke Mishima at UFC 65. Caol Uno hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2003 when he lost to Hermes Franca at UFC 44. Since 2003, Uno has spent most of his time fighting for Pride FC.

This is a nice addition to what is looking like a “star-studded” card, for the UFC’s first show in Ohio. Here is how the card looks at the moment:

Tim Sylvia vs. Randy Couture
Matt Hughes vs. Chris Lytle
Rich Franklin vs. Jason MacDonald
Jon Fitch vs. Luigi Fioravanti
Mike Swick vs. Yushin Okami
Rex Holman vs. Matt Hamill
Martin Kampmann vs. Drew McFedries
Joe Stevenson vs. Caol Uno

One thing that I cant stand about the UFC is that they never put two big names in a match together unless its the main event. shouldn’t matt hughes be fightin diego to see who the number one contender is? Wouldn’t it be good to see Mike Swick go against Rich Franklin? Don’t get me wrong I love the UFC a lot more than Pride because the excitement is just unmatched. But when it comes down to the match ups Pride is a whole lot better. I mean Josh Barnett had a streak of 8 fights in 14 months. Why is it that I only get to see Chuck compete 3 times a year?

That is true. If Hughes fights someone and looses the UFC will more than likely loose money. Matt Hughes brings lots of fans to the table (including my girlfriend). Hughes needs to win and then they will hype it up big-time and get lots of PPV’s. Only to see Hughes get beat again. Like I said before, I think Hughes will pull a Randy and retire only to come back and fight again with-in a years time.

It took Ortiz and Liddell 2 years to meet again, but those days are over. Plus it’s not like Ortiz took the title from Liddell. It was the other way around. I’d like to she Diego fight GSP also, but right now is not the time for a contender to fight GSP. I think he’s closer to unbeatable than Liddell. GSP has been in championship form for a year now, and I think he could’ve beat Matt Hughes a year ago. Hughes was in his head. Now no one is…
