A few more fights were officially announced today for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 11 which is scheduled for September 19 in Las Vegas.
Nate “the Rock” Quarry will make his return to the UFC after nearly two years away from MMA action. Quarry last fought at UFC 56 in November, 2005 when he was quickly and rather brutally defeated by then UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin. After that fight, Quarry’s career quickly took a sharp turn for the worse and for a while Quarry wasn’t sure if he would ever fight professionally again.
Quarry had a serious back injury which ultimately required him to undergo spinal surgery. Quarry had what is known as an XLIF, basically a spinal fusion on two vertebrae. Shortly afterwards Quarry left Team Quest (whether he was forced out or left on his own accord is up for discussion). How will his time out of the octagon affect his performace? Will “The Rock” return and show the promise he showed earlier in his career? We’ll soon find out.
Also added to the fight card is a matchup between Leonard Garcia and TUF 5 contestant Cole Miller. The Fight Night event features a main event of Spencer Fisher vs Din Thomas and will also feature Mike Swick making his UFC debut at welterweight against Jonathan Goulet.

COOL I KINDA LIKED THIS KID
Nate never impressed me that much, hes a pretty good fighter, but if hes injured like that, he will never be the champ. It doesnt make much sense risking further injury for a mediocre career as a fighter when he could do much better as a coach. He definately has more skill and experience than Drago, but win or lose, i cant see him going anywhere as a fighter.
Fisher vs din thomas sounds like a good matchup! Din is a vet man, ill be going for fisher, but that could go either way.
i dont like this main event at all . Spencer Fisher has just come off a win over Sam Stout. To me fighting Din Thomas is a huge step backward. Will a win over Din Thomas make anyone choose him next for a title shot? I think the ufc is lacking serious depth in the lightweight division, especially now that Sherk and Franca are gone.
These are the top ten lightweights in the world according to mma weekly.
#1 Lightweight Fighter in the World: Takanori Gomi
2. Hayato Sakurai
3. Gilbert Melendez
4. Tatsuya Kawajiri
5. Shinya Aoki
6. Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro
7. Joachim Hansen
8. Mitsuhiro Ishida
9. Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto
10. Joe Stevenson
I think Bj Penn should be included in this but then again he might be considered a welterweight. Anyways the ufc only hasone of these fighers. They should consentrate on getting more so we dont have to watch crap main events.
ya, well this sounds more like a pride 160 pound lightweight division. I know Dr. J has been working on a mmahq fighter ranking site, which (im sure) will be alot more accurate. I like Gomi and Sakurai high up, maybe not 1 and 2 but i must say im surprised to see Joe Daddy up there. I definatley agree, but im shocked to see that they are giving him that much credit and hes still never got a title shot yet.
Gilbert Melendez?? uhh.. no, i notice hes undefeated, but hes also yet to be really tested.
Heres an interesting nugget i saw about Hansen,
“In a victory celebration after defeating Rumina Sato in a Shooto event, Hansen threw his mouthpiece into the audience, inadvertently hitting Caol Uno’s mother on the forehead”
LOL whats the chances of that????
bvrasp
funny stuff hitting unos mom in the head man ,hansen is a beast ,id love to see the guy in the ufc.Gilbert melendez ive never seen fight i know he trains with cesar gracie

lol Pete Sell must know the Elvis secret.
