M-1 Mix Fight, the promotion that recently signed Fedor Emalianenko, officially announced today that they have named MMA “super-agent” Monte Cox as President and CEO.
Sibling Entertainment Group Holdings, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SIBE) ["Sibling Holdings"] announced Sibling Theatricals, Inc. ["Sibling Theatricals"], a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sibling Entertainment Group, Inc., together with Garlin Holdings Limited as Managing Members, have formed Sibling Sports, LLC (a Delaware limited liability company) for the purpose of creating M-1 Global, LLC (a New York limited liability company), a new mixed martial arts organization.
In addition, Monte Cox, a 13-year veteran of the mixed martial arts industry, was named President and CEO of M-1 Global.
Sibling Entertainment Group, Inc. is the company with which Sibling Holdings has previously signed an Agreement of Acquisition and Plan of Reorganization, the closing of which is currently pending. (See “Note to Editor” below for an explanation of Sibling Holdings relationship to Sibling Entertainment Group, Inc.).
“We are excited to announce the formation of Sibling Sports, LLC and our new mixed martial arts organization M-1 Global,” said Mitchell Maxwell, President and CEO of Sibling Holdings. “Mixed martial arts is the fastest growing sport in America. It is the boxing of the 21st century. We see our entry into sports entertainment as an integral part of our strategic plan to develop new and unique entertainment products worldwide.”
“We have pulled together a world-class group of people to lead our new organization. Our new management team has extensive mixed martial arts experience in Europe, Russia, Asia and the US. We have developed a strategic alliance with SFX Media & Events, one of the premiere sports marketing, event management, and athlete management companies in the world,” he said.
“We are thrilled to have a strategic alliance with M-1 Global and the outstanding team that Sibling Sports has put together,” said Dennis Spencer, executive vice president of SFX Media and Events.
“We are pleased to announce Monte Cox as our CEO. Monte has been recognized as one of the most influential persons in mixed martial arts in the world today. He is generally considered one of the world’s most successful fight managers, having produced a record seven world champions in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and built an impressive team of nearly 60 world-class competitors,” Maxwell said.
Cox said, “I have been involved in mixed martial arts for almost 13 years. While I have been offered many other positions over the years, this is the first one that I have accepted. I am elated to have the opportunity to work with Mitchell Maxwell and the great team of managers he has been able to assemble. We look forward to continuing to move mixed martial arts into the mainstream, not only here in the US, but worldwide.”
“We have developed an alliance with M-1 Mix Fight and we are honored to be working with Vadim Finkelchtein, Apy Echteld, and Joost Raimond. They have many years of experience managing fighters and staging events in Europe, Russia, and Asia. Rounding out our new management team are Bob Clark, currently serving as President of Sibling Theatricals, and Brian Patton, a CPA, and business manager for MMA legend Matt Hughes,” Cox said.
Monte Cox is agent to over 50 MMA fighters including Matt Hughes, Tim Sylvia, Rich Franklin, Jens, Pulver, Robbie Lawler, Jey Heiron, Ben Rothwell, and plenty others. Cox was most recently in the MMA headlines in regards to the IFL and several of his fighters not being including in the upcoming IFL Grand Prix due to “contractual disputes.”

My only question is how much money do they have if they want to compete with ufc? The only way to ’shaken’ ufc in MMA world now is to have more money than them.
[...] Cox, agent of a lot of MMA stars, will be the company’s CEO. MMA Analyst has you covered in regards to Sibling [...]
Uhhh if they got Cox, then they have money…. I smell REAL competition for the UFC, of course it will be uphill only because the”UFC” is a mainstay for American fans now…
Dana must be kicking himself now after fedor cited that calling them crazy russian pretty much ‘iced’ the deal. Glad that there are people who dare to stand up against dana.
If randy actually fight fedor outside ufc, dana will possibly commit suicide. That fight is even bigger than wandy vs chuck provided that fedor doesn’t lose to anyone before tha bout.
M-1 takes tough gamble to rest everything on fedor. I hope they bet it right. Only time will tell. Nobody is invincible. If fedor fights the way he fought in pride, he will continue to dominate for a long time.
The UFC pretty much has everything to lose IF, and I mean a big IF, they allow Randy to fight Fedor. Of course, Dana is way too stubborn and would NEVER allow a match-up like this to happen. Isn’t it funny how just a few years ago, Dana was calling the Pride management a bunch of pussies for not sending Wandi over here, meanwhile, now he would never agree to letting Couture fight Fedor. Funny how the tide changes.
off topic, you guys hear Dana is supposed to announce Wanderleis first opponent back to the UFC during the Scream awards? I wasnt planning to watch it, as in my opinion all award shows are pretty lame and they just dont interest me at all. Ill stay tuned in until i hear the announcement tho.. id watch womens golf to hear this announcement hehe.
well, Dana said it would be Chuck and Wandy, which is keeping to form with the pervious announcements. Sounds great! but theres still 2 months for snags and injuries and who knows what else! lets just hope this fight finally happens.
Something floating around about Fedor… kind of interesting…
Fedor Emelianenko, the famed Russian fighter who is seriously challenging the old adage that no man is an island, still does not have a date for his first fight under M-1 Global.
But does he have an opponent?
Our buddy Brent Brookhouse is passing word from Tatame.com that Pedro “The Rock†Rizzo is in fact preparing for a bout with the former PRIDE heavyweight champion but that the negotiating is still in its infancy.
The Heavy Champion of the Art of War, Pedro Rizzo, who traveled yesterday to Netherlands to help his friend Peter Aerts in the preparation for the K-1 GP final, also has the aim of sharpening his exchanges for a possible fight against the Russian Fedor Emilianenko. “Actually, we received a proposal, but we can´t say from whom. Now it´s too early to speakâ€, said Jorge Guimarães (Joinha) Rizzo´s manager.
Rizzo may not have much left in terms of star power, but his knockout power and TKO victory over Jeff Monson at Art of War 3 actually puts him ahead of Monson from a competitive standpoint.
While Fedor had hoped to fight on New Year’s Eve, that date was quickly dismissed by M-1 President Monte Cox as being too restrictive.
Hopefully M-1 Global can get something on paper soon as Fedor’s star is starting to fade. No one can question what he’s accomplished in this sport but you can’t build a company of the future on memories of the past.
The clock is ticking.
