Because he's using a fake account to troll this site. His usage of pds over lbs was something commonly used on this site to troll for instance "trane" as opposed to the grammatically correct "train" etc. In essence you got trolled!

How can Joel comment that wrestling is the best base for MMA, but he doesn't wrestle. Is it because physics hasn't ANALyzed the sport yet? Or did you hear Joe Rogan say it once? Joel should stick to commenting on boxing and having little boys displayed in his profile pic.

Depends on which location you go to. And even then it depends on how much they like you. I got force-fed those ridiculous Tigear ones. Not the new ones that are like these, the separate boots and shin guards. Meanwhile, other people got away with wearing the more practical shin/instep combo ones. So, if I were you, I would call up your sensei and find out first.

These shin guards suck, just so you guys know. I'm not looking for an argument, it's just a fact. If you want shin guards that will last for a few months, buy these. Otherwise, go for something that's made with better materials and craftsmanship.

My mt instructor has his base in tdk before going to Thailand to train. Bc is was not point based tdk, it translated well. Think machida and karate... huge difference between point styles and full contact. Historically tdk and karate don't verse well in mma, but have some good things to add to your mma game if you're open minded. Also, Silva has several black belt, one IS in tdk, but he only uses two tdk techniques heavily. Silvia MT bjj based

Well yeah, but that's why it's called MMA. You take the best parts (or what works for you as an individual) of each of the martial arts you've studied, and implement them as part of your game plan in the cage. That's why you'll see guys with boxing backgrounds still only use straight punches, but few uppercuts. Or you'll see guys with heavy MT backgrounds only throwing leg kicks and not utilizing a clinch or knees and elbows. You won't see wrestlers using every takedown they've ever practiced. You keep what is effective and throw away the rest. But in the end it's all about exposure. And yes, keeping an open mind. A true martial artist can find use in any style and/or technique.

Why are uppercuts not usable in MMA by a boxer? They can be a big aid in stopping takedowns.

I wasn't saying that they're not usable in MMA. I was just saying that people with boxing on their resume don't often use them. It's like the adrenaline dump makes them retarded or something. I, personally, love uppercuts.

Wrestling is the best base for MMA. I don't wrestle but I know striking will get you no where if you can't defend a takedown. They don't teach that in anything else.

They don't teach how to defend a takedown in anything else? Are you fucking kidding me? Judo and traditional Jiu-Jitsu have been doing it for decades, and BJJ revolutionized it as well! Wrestling is cool and stuff, but they're the absolute worst fighters from their back.

Everyone did tkd as a kid....and soccer too ... Dominic Cruz played little league baseball....so does that make it a great base for mma? Get over it.... Oh and boxers are the worst off their backs.

TKD is still lame...who cares if Anderson Silva did tkd.People need to understand that tkd has like one tear drop effect on mma. There is no one in mma that has tkd as their base martial art because tkd sucks.

That is whats wrong with tkd-black belt-douches they think tkd is the best. You wasted your time and money on a martial art that is ineffective outside the dojo/tkd tournament. So pack your paint dipped foam headgear and go home because you can't hang with the big dogs.

Grant started putting out a budget line like 5-6 years ago. You can tell by the metallic silver star above the "A" in the Grant logo. If you see this, it is a cheaper line than the normally higher quality gear Grant makes.

As for the M-1 stuff, I think it is a combination of them using this same "cheaper" gear, just rebranded, and M-1 not catching on too well. This line is already being clearanced by every major retailer who has received them, so I don't think it will continue.

There is a huge market for the white, Grant MMA gloves in the collectors market though, because Fedor wore them vs Giant Silva, and they hope to get them autographed.

There is only a handful of manufacturers over in Pakistan where the majority of gear is made. Same with Thailand. Most of the gear is the same shit, just rebranded with different logos and sold for different prices.
