I've noticed that MMA gloves come in various sizes, but 12/14/16 ounce boxing gloves are one size. Will larger hands fit OK in a 12/14/16 ounce? Is 16 ounce overkill for using on a BOB & free standing reflex bag?

From my experience, these gloves are gonna be overkill on both a BOB and free standing reflex bag, but it's not the fault of the glove. It's just the fact that the BOB is not an ideal training bag. As for the reflex bag, the emphasis is speed and not power so the gloves would work just as long as you hit lightly. The BOB can be hit lightly with these gloves but you should eventually invest in a heavy bag to condition your knuckles since the BOB can't do that for you. I've seen experienced fighters use wrapped hands or MMA gloves on the reflex bag.

All in all though, I think that it would be a good idea for you to purchase these gloves. The wrist support for this model seems good. I'd recommend the 16 oz, that way you'd have a glove great for sparring and adequate for bag work, should you decide to train with a heavy bag. You should have two separate, differently weighted gloves for each application but this is doable if you're trying to be conservative. Don't worry about the fit of the gloves. It might feel loose barehanded but wrap up your hands and it'll be snug. I use a 16 oz Fairtex BVG1 (bought from MMAHQ) and it's great; only other glove brand that feels loose for me (even with wraps) was TWINS.

    Hope that helps!
